Submitted by admin on February 4, 2010 at 8:58 am 44 Comments

jackson2Michael Jackson’s three children will be featured on the re-recording of charity anthem, We are The World. According to reports, Prince,12, Paris,11, and Blanket,7, Jackson are set to recite a poem and some special words as introduction to the re-release of the 1985 hit, which has been re-recorded to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

A source tells Wenn, “They wanted to put a special message on the song - a message that echoes everything their father wanted for the world.”

The newer version of the charity track will also feature Janet Jackson, as well as many other musicians. We are The World was originally written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian

well I guess dont really have a choice about being in the public eye especially with their father being Michael Jackson.I see nothing wrong with reciting a tribute poem for their father .Maybe this is their way of coping with their fathers death.

  • Keepin' it real says:

I am sorry but I don’t think Michael would be so happy having his kids constantly exposed like this. He was very private and although I feel he went over-board with the masks and such, his family could keep them more low profile. I think it’s imporatnt to respect the parents wishes if they entrusted you with their kids.

    • KHRISH says:

We have to remember that the children were much younger when Michael was working so hard to protect them from the public. In later pictures the children were seen out with him without their face coverings. As a matter of fact these were pictures that BCK featured. They are no longer babies and as long as their requests are reasonable I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s not like they are on tour. Now that they are older they shouldn’t be expected to remain in a cocoon. Maybe many of us are taking this need for seclusion a tad too far. At some time or the other, the children were going to emerge from that particular kind of protection.

  • Kinereth says:

I am happy that MJ’s kids are a part of this. I’m sure their father would be very pruod. Their 3T cousins Taj, Taryll and TJ were among the singers recording the 25th anniversary version of WATW. Kudos to them…

  • Sunshine says:

If this is true then they have already begun to keep their father’s legacy of LOVE alive.

  • gtsa says:

I think that is great that they are redoing and re-issuing this timeless song. Hear that J-Hud will be one of the artists lending her talents–good sign. I remember when it came out. They played it to death, and I grew sick of it, but not because it wasn’t well done.

Bring the freshness on guys for a new generation. Great cause too.

  • Pisces says:

These little would be CEO’s are taking charge at the helm. It’s great that they are beginning to take part in projects related to causes which were of importance to their beloved Daddy.

Prince said in his little acceptance speech that they were going to continue their Dad’s humanitarian efforts and this is a beautiful first step for them. Wonderful!

    • Pisces says:

“Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over and whispers, Grow, grow.” quote from the Talmud.

These children are truly blossoming in spite of their personal tragedy. God bless them and keep them safe.

Also, it is poignant that the 3T’s Mom passed just as their cousins Dad has passed, and they too have been strong and can serve as role models on how to cope after losing a parent. So bittersweet, this situation is for this family.

  • hnede says:

That is great that they are apart of something that their father started years ago it….

@ keeping it real- mj was not the person that wanted to keep his kids out of the spot light it wait debbie rowe who want mj to keep the kids out of the public eye and he was kind enough to do so but according to court she has no power to make that decision anymore…..

    am proud of these kids

  • PlainMean says:

The kids are old enough to have a voice in what activities they would like to partake in. I’m sure that if they did not want to be apart of the song or go on stage then no one would make them. Plus, wasn’t it Debbie who wanted to keep the kids private and Michael did that to please her? Anywho, I don’t understand how or why they chose some of the artists to be included in this song. There’s Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Fonzworth Bentley, Vince Vaughn? WTF? But no Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, or the Jacksons?!?! Curious as to what the song will sound like.

    • Sunshine says:

Personally I don’t think this version will be as good as the original.
Anyway Tito’s sons 3T are part of the choir and Janet is doing Mike’s part.
Tito, Jackie, Latoya, Randy, Marlon and Michael (of course!) were part of the original We are the World! I think the only artist involved in both projects is Lionel Richie.

      • KHRISH says:

Hey, let’s not forget old man Quincy Jones was there on the first one as well.

        • Sunshine says:

LOL! I didn’t forget about ‘ol Quincy. I know he was a sax player but I don’t think of him as an artist!

          • KHRISH says:

Oh, I beg to differ. Quincy Jones is among many other things,a film scorer, writer, conductor, producer, a 27 times Grammy Awards winner and the man behind Michael Jackson’s THRILLER. You are the only person I know that refers to him as a “sax player”. You must be really young!

        • Sunshine says:

When I say artist, I am referring to the actual performer. I am young but I know what Quincy Jones has done. Quincy produced Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. When he came out with Jook Joint he had actual singers, sing on the albumn. Maybe I’m wrong. Did he sing on We are the World or on one of Mike’s albumns? Educate me if he has.
Screen player writers get Oscars but I wouldn’t call them actors. Just me!

          • KHRISH says:

I guess that was my confusion. I consider them all artists, Performing artists. There was a misunderstanding with the use of the word. Sorry. LOL

      • machelle says:

i’m with you 100% on this comment. most of the other artists were legends and carefully picked, also a few of them were not even singers. the new list seems like the ppl were thrown together. i hear lil wayne may have been there. i don’t know…..some of the ppl on the list i heard just don’t seem to fit.

        • FashionedByGod33 says:

I was thinking the same thing after seeing some of the participants. The original is untouchable but in the spirit of which this is intended, I will keep an open mind. So curious as to how it is going to sound.

  • hal says:

hmmm curious to know what they wrote. They seem to have Latoya’s skin tone, Prince has his dad’s eyes and his grandfather’s bone and jaw structure. Paris favours her grandma and latoya more.

There’s no question where blanket gets his features from….daddy

  • ReallyDoe says:

My heart is swelling with pride that they want to continue on with their father’s cause. Bless their hearts:) These kids are on their way to being great in their own right. And they’re so cute too! The Jacksons are a beautiful bunch!

  • Big Blue says:

It would be amazing if Paris sang Cyndi Lauper’s part at the end of verse 3.

  • c low says:

Sorry but they are not old enough, and they father die 6 month ago so it wasnt a long time ago that their father was trying to keep them out of the spot light. Sorry I think the Jackson family are pimp out his children and it suck ball. I also feel that they have their whole life to carry on their father whatever… why can’t they be children and be out of a spot light that basically kill their father. This is not a good thing and in a few year when they are all mess up everyone going to claim they saw it coming. Well I see it coming, let them be kids and heal and stuff.

    • Pisces says:

In my opinion, I don’t feel the kids are being exploited or “pimped” out. If anything, they are gaining more and more control because they pull the strings on the money purse. Where they go the money will always follow, and the court is determining the allotments of money and it is being dispensed carefully for the care of the children, primarily.

When their father and his siblings were their ages, 11,12 and younger, they were performing and talking in front of mass audiences and all of that culminated in them becoming the entertainers they were and are today. Overwhelmingly, even back then, no one considered Joe and Katherine to be “pimping” out their kids. Is it different now just because it is 2010?

I feel that if it was good enough for their father at a young age then the least they can do is begin speaking in his behalf if for no other reason than to show gratitude for all he’s done for them. I don’t believe they or Katherine and Joe got paid for the acceptance of the Grammy.

Michael’s estate continues to grow based on his work prior to his death and other assets he acquired while alive…it’s not going to bring in money from the kids talking or otherwise entertaining.

If they write books, plays or other works about their father in the future, money earned from those will be rightfully theirs just as when other children of celebrities have done so such as Frank Sinatra, Joan Crawford and more recently Mackenzie Phillips.

    • ReallyDoe says:

I feel your concern, I hope their future doesnt come to that. What the media did to their dad was cruel and unusual punishment. It was cold hearted bullying to say the least. I wouldnt be surprised if I saw these evil media reporters taking a moonlit ride on a broomstick!!!
I do believe however, that the kids, as intelligent as they are, have their own say in the matter. They dont seem pushed into it at all. It does seem as if they’re as much into philanthropy as their beloved father was.

  • Elizabeth says:

I would suppose that Michael’s children are allowed to do publicly only what their pyschiatrist accepts as positive for them. It would seem they are able to smile more freely now as if a catharsis is being slowly reached. If he had been my wonderful dad, I would also want the world to know how great my loss had been. ”Blanket” may have need of a longer time for healing as he has not yet reached the age of reasoning where he can put everything into a rational context. These are exceptional children because they had an exceptional father whether of their blood or not, which we cannot and should not need to determine. If they are totally caucasian, then Michael has given them a message to share with all races : ”It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white.”

  • luvbug says:

With all due respect to the late MJ……..the matter is no longer in his hands. It is not healthy for kids to not be out and about or with other children. Children was born to laugh and have fun….not burdened with the problems of adults. I am so happy for MJ’s children and they seem to be doing just fine. Those boys look just like the old MJ and Paris looks just like her mother, lol. Why do we act as if these children are the only ones that have lost a parent? just imagine what some of the kids in Haiti(in the world…period) r going thru. Regardless if you are rich, poor or in between, death hurts when you lose a loved one.

  • Sherley says:

I think if MJ was alive at this time, he would have allowed his children to make an appearance on the song. Maybe in reciting a poem or just being in the choir part by his side.

I’m so sorry to bring this up but I can see Blanket is MJ all the way, however I cannot see it in Prince & Paris. That being said, they are all his children because they were raised as such.

Ok…I said I was sorry so pls don’t attack me.

    • ReallyDoe says:

This is not an attack Sherley, I agree with you on all points made, except about Prince & Paris. I see Michael in Prince, I really do! Also, I saw a picture of Samuel Jackson, Joe’s dad, and Prince looks exactly like the man! Paris looks like Debbie totally, but that doesnt mean she’s not MJ’s…Look at Quincy Brown, he looks NOTHING like Kim Porter, & EVERYTHING like Al B Sure. Also, Justin Combs looks NOTHING like P. Diddy, & EVERYTHING like his mom Misa. I also see a lot of MJ’s mannerisms in those kids.

Another thing to think about, despite what the media claims, Michael Jackson was a man of honesty & integrity. He told the truth, even when the truth was embarrassing…for example, him having babydolls because he wanted to be a father so bad. So I know he would’nt lie about his kids. Passing for white is nothing new to black people, it’s in our heritage. Besides, Prince’s full name is Prince Michael Jackson Junior. I have yet to meet a child named “junior”, who doesnt share a biological tie with his father.
      Peace:)

      • Sunshine says:

While I think these are Mike’s kids, I have met people a few young men that are juniors but the senior is not the biological father. The US has on very famous example: President Gerald Ford Jr. who is named after his step-father. It does happen.

  • Liane says:

Prince Paris and Prince Michael II, carry the legacy and the love that Daddy provided and taught you. Be strong and stay focused. Never ever let the bond you have and the love to ever leave your heart!

  • jada-lane says:

    This was Joe’s idea
They are going to be the Jackson 3!!
    lol singles coming soon

  • lauren says:

aww thats so sweet! i think its great that they are doing this! helping the world and carrying on their daddy’s legacy! michael may have not wanted them to be in the public eye but i feel that he would be very proud of them doing this! it is for a good cause! they have very big hearts! they arent like other celeb kids that are bratty and only care about themselves, they are sweet kids that care about the world and other people! michael raised them right! im sure he is very proud! they are going to great humanitarians like their daddy, im sure of it! :)

  • sean says:

those kids looked terrified…ireally hope they family doesnt continue to exploit them
