REGINAE CARTER TRIES TO COPE WITH HER FATHER’S JAIL SENTENCE
Rapper Lil Wayne is scheduled to be sentenced this morning in Manhattan Supreme Court for gun possession stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York City. While Wayne remains calm about his impending jail time , it’s his family members that are trying to cope with the reality that he will be away for the next 12 months .
Reginae Carter, the 11-year-old daughter of Wayne, has taken to the social network Twitter to share her feelings about her dad’s yearlong sentence. “I’m staying strong because I got family and friends that care for me,” she wrote on the eve of her dad’s sentencing.
“I’m just happy he didn’t get a longer time,” she added.
Reginae’s mother, Toya Carter, has also expressed her feelings about Wayne’s upcoming jail time. “Sad day for me and my fam,” she tweeted yesterday. “This is really a hard pill to swallow,” she later wrote on Tuesday morning.
Wayne, who in the past week has shuffled his time between work and family, feels that his sentence is justified.
“I look at things as ‘everything is meant to be. I know it’s an experience that I need to have if God’s putting me through it,” he said to Rolling Stone earlier this month.
“It’s an experience that I need to have if God’s putting me through it.” Great attitude to have in life.
In general that is a good attitude to have but God isn’t putting Wayne through this. Wayne is putting Wayne through this!
If someone get’s lung cancer and they have never smoked in their life then I would understand that attitude. But Little Wayne brought this on himself!!

I agree with everyone’s comments. I feel for his children, but thankfully, they all seem to have a lot of support.
I’m willing to bet he won’t be spending the whole 12 months behind bars, but hopefully when he get’s out, he’ll be a better man and father becuase of it.
God is not putting him through anything. Take some responsibility for your actions. He put himself in this position, without thinking of his children or other people he would hurt.

That has got to be tough. 12 months. I don’t know the whole story behind the sentencing but I feel the most for his children. Not him. His children. I hate that for them.
He does appear to have the right attitude, noting that the sentencing was just and seems to be ready to take it like a man. Props to him for that. I know there are some things out of one’s control in this life, but as a previous poster noted, God didn’t put him in this position, that’s on him and him alone. Need to take ownership & responsibility of his actions. Hopefully he won’t put himself in a situation to be locked up again.

It gets me how Lil Wayne and TI can have as many blessings as they do and have the world to lose yet they still do stupid things. They both have a boat load of kids, especially TI with 4 sons to set an example for. In the end I think its selfishness for you to do something so unnecessary, knowing that you have responsibilities. This really bothers me. I could go on and on, but i’ll end my rant…

I only feel bad for kids in these situations. He keeps walking around being completely irresponsible. Firstly, making tons of children out of wedlock, or without any commitment to their mothers. Regardless of what anyone says, he cannot possibly spend a lot of time with his children at the maximum level of emotional support they need. Secondly, partaking in the glorification of drug-use and weaponry. I hope this jail stint makes him grow up! His daughter is entering a phase of her life where she needs a solid, male figure before other boys get into her mind, and she ends up pregnant like her mother was at 14. Everything happens for a reason, but sometimes the reason is to make you wake up. So, Dwayne, WAKE UP!
I agree that it’s a same that so many men are having multiple baby momma’s instead of having a WIFE then children. It’s a shame he has so many kids and never married any of the mothers. It’s also a shame that Nivea and Laura London think it’s okay to have kids by the same man at the same time! Poor judgment all around. What happened to morals????
Out of wedlock children are likely to become out a wedlock parents. The breakdown of the family is growing more normalized.
Well, in his defense (and I think I heard a pig fly by my window), he did marry Reginae’s mother after his daughter’s birth. The marriage didn’t last very long, but at least he wed one of his baby mamas.

I hope they do shave his hair if it’s mandatory of other prisoners than it should be mandatory for Lil Wayne. He is a loser and so is TI. They should think of someone other than themselves for once, like all there multiple children. SMDH

I just watched HURRICANE SEASON with Lil Wayne in a role and the little girl China from HOUSE OF PAYNE looked at him in the film with the same expression that I have when I look at him. LOL

And I remember there being a complaint about the amount of time he was spending with her.. And how she wasn’t really seeing her father.. So what she woulda missed a visit or two? Wayne is a very lucky cat because people are catching the minium sentence for daring to look at a firearm in n.y, and I’m sure he has priors.
I still do feel bad for all parties involved.. But Reginae doesn’t have to worry about Any new random siblings for 1 yr.
