PARIS BENNETT’S DAUGHTER IS GROWING UP FAST

egypt

You may remember Paris Bennett as an American Idol finalist. Paris was just 19 when she became pregnant with her first child Egypt.  Bennett, now 21, says although it’s hard being a young mom, “it’s fun”.

“If I was to give advice to young moms, I’d say wait unless you have a lot of support to help with the baby,” she tells Usmagazine. “I’m still young and it’s fun… I don’t feel like I missed out on things.”

“Sometimes, I’m just like, ‘Geez, Egypt… maybe if mommy would have had you a little bit later…. [But] she is my motivator,” continues Paris, who performs seven times a week in the Minneapolis production of Rent. “Now when I hit the stage, I’m not only living for myself, I’m living for another human being.”

Egypt is now 17 months old and can already walk.

“She walks, she talks, she loves Dora the Explorer. She’s very, very smart. We’re potty training right now,” Paris says of her daughter, whose first word was “Hey!”

So what about Egypt’s father?

“Finding out I was pregnant made me become more mature. It takes guys awhile to grow, and I don’t think his maturity level grew,” Paris reveals. “It felt like I was teaching him as well as trying to learn on my own how to be a parent. That was hard.”

“They still have a good relationship. “I would never want her not to see him, or not be around him. Every child needs their dad,” she adds.

Egypt is such a pretty little munchkin. @19yrs old, I would think she’d be able to handle motherhood w/out too much difficulty. She would’ve been a sophmore in college…not the ideal time to be having a baby one might say, but certainly beats having one at a truly young age like say-13yrs old. @ 19 you should be done with high school, in college/and or working…

She is beautiful!!! I’m pretty sure Paris had a lot of support. I’m glad she’s telling young girls to WAIT!

Why are people surprised she is walking at 17 months? Don’t most kids walk by that age. I did.

Wow, Egypt is truly a beauty. I wonder where her great-grandmom, Ann Nesby is;she has such a lovely voice. Much continued success to this talented family.

aww, she’s a cutie. with those big, expressive eyes. :-)

she must have a lot of help with the baby, because i don’t think most parents (young ones at that) would just say it’s fun. but i’m glad she’s putting the message out there that it’s better to wait.
