ANTONIO CROMATIE RECEIVES $500,000 ADVANCE TO PAY OFF SUPPORT PAYMENTS

Thursday, Mar 11 , 2010 11:12:am by admin FILED UNDER Lawsuits,SportPlayers

cromartieAntonio Cromartie can breathe a little easier now that his new team, The Jets, have fronted him $500,000 of his $1.7 million 2010 salary to help him settle some past due child support payments. According to reports, The Jets helped out the former Chargers player in hopes of giving him a fresh new start.

“He’s got some time constraints on payments and [the Jets] did help him out with that. They’ve certainly helped with everything and that’s going to make life easier for him,” a source tells the NY post.

Cromartie, who has seven children from six different women in five states, has admitted that he has made some mistakes in the past.

“I made some wrong decisions my first two years in the NFL, and now I have to take that responsibility to be a father. I need to deal with my kids and child-support issues,” Cromartie said during a conference call with reporters last week Friday. “Those things are being taken care of. I’m going to be the best father to them that I can.”

Wow!!! seven kids by six different women. That’s just utterly ridiculous and the child support thing is equally ridiculous. I hope this story isn’t true, because he just sounds like the stereotypical pro-athelete.
I seriously don’t know why so many women want to be with pro-athletes or celebrity men. TOO MUCH DRAMA!!!!

This story IS true. I live in New York and this was reported last week. The Jets are trying to help him out so it won’t be a distraction when training camp starts.
This dope signed a contract with San Diego a few years ago and got like 12 million over the course of 4 years but he says he doesn’t have any money.
ESPN outside the lines had a show about athlets having mucho babies out of wedlock. One of the things that was discussed is that some women go on the prowl for athlets. Most athlets (not all) make pretty good money. The mentality is that if you date them then you will have a good lifestyle. They can afford the fancy cars, clothing etc. If you have a baby then you are entitled to good child support. As we can see that is not always the case but people don’t think before they leap. One of Antonio’s baby mamas has 2 children with him. Why????
Antonio isn’t the worst offender, Travis Henry has 11 kids by 10 different women. I think they are all girls and he can’t afford his child support payments either. SMH!!!!!

I agree w/you that there are women out there who prowl on these men for their money.

My issue? The athletes know this..it’s old news. They should be responsible for their actions. If you strap it up each & every time, then they wouldn’t have to worry about child support payments later. They can treat them for what they are…easy p****. You cannot get caught out there if you are using the correct head. I’m just saying.

Precisely, Sherley. I’ve been hearing about athletes with their litters of children scattered around the world from I was a child. Surely they must have heard about them and their resulting financial problems too, but no. They never feel that it can happen to them, hence the dumb-butt behaviour and the children who suffer in the end.

All the money in the world doesn’t come close to a Daddy who’s there if you have a nightmare or if you just want to be around him. These selfish idiots (yes, men and women both!) only think about themselves – their pleasure and their payday.

This is true and there are many more like them. Most of athletes with a plethora of kids from different women are those unknowns…you know those role players whose names you don’t know but they are still millionaires. Those guys are so desperate to show off to women and prove something. The male ego is ridiculous. Because they aren’t a bold face name, they get a charge from bedding as many women as they can.
This should be the last bailout this grown man receives. And the children’s mothers should take this as a lesson. Save as much as you can because this dude may slip up on payments and with so many kids, his pockets are split too many ways.
And he is a NFLer too – no guaranteed contract. Tomorrow his 1.7 million can be 1.7 cents if he blows his knee.

Reportedly, black women have the highest rate of AIDs in this country. At first, I didn’t believe this, but then I thought about it. There are so many of us who believe that we are in a committed relationship with one man, unbeknownst that he is running around with 3 other women. And then there are the black females who will sleep with a guy for material gain and not give 2 craps about who else he may be with.

I’ve given up on adults a long time ago – I truly believe we have to just start with the kids and raise them differently. We teach our kids that boys are suppose to chase, and girls are suppose to resist, instead of teaching boys to keep what’s in their pants in their pants and teaching girls the same. We just seriously have to do better or this cycle will continue.

If it weren’t for the kids, I’d tell the team stop enabling this man. I DO hope he has learned his lesson. Unfortunately he has a lesson that will just keep on teaching, at least for the next 18 to 20 yrs.

‘Wrong decisions’? Dude, soaking all your coloured clothes together is a wrong decision. 7 babies with 6 women in 5 states? Those are not ‘wrong decisions’, that’s a ‘wheredaphuck was your brain, dude?!’.

Good on his team for trying to help his children out, but he deserves a kick in the jewels. In this day and age with all sorts of contraceptive options available hassle-free, there is no excuse for this sort of foolishness. None.

Wow thank goodness for an NFL contract, cause sadly the’re a lot of other regular everyday brothas with the same or more kids than him whose jobs would never consider an advance in pay to pay child support.

    Reasons for this…

    1. As has been noted, women chase professional athletes. They chase musicians, actors, elite businessmen and, at times, even high level white collar professionals like bankers. Women have done this since time immemorial and will continue for as long as we exist.

A couple of you up there said that you’d never date a pro athlete with all of the drama. On the basis of sheer probability, that’s unlikely. Pro athletes are not only generally fit(hence good looking), they’re also usually pretty confident. Because they tend to enjoy lots of female company, they tend to know how to get girls. This goes for a lot of athletes at the highest levels of college football to. Even women who supposedly know better often fail to resist.

Why? Status is to women what large breasts and hourglass figures are to men. Foolish as it may seem, this will keep legions of groupies at the backs of guys like cromartie for a very long time.

    2. These are not geniuses. Go to rivals.com’s football recruit database, where the majority of the nation’s top high school recruits(who later constitute the majority of players at the Professional level) and you won’t find many GPA’s higher than 2.5-2.6. They don’t get much more intellectual stimulation at most D-1 schools either.

Move on to the NFL combine. Every year a general intelligence test called the wonderlic is administered. It is scored out of 50 points-20 is considered indicative of an average IQ.

Cromartie got a 12. Scores well under 20 are downright common.
It is also well known that 78% of NFL players are close to bankruptcy 2-3 years after they stop playing. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Most of these guys aren’t bright enough to foreseee many negative consequences to their actions. They don’t know how to manage their money properly and quite a few can’t manage their genitals any more efficiently.

Some of you asked “But they should KNOW about these women, right?”
No. Guys like Cromartie and Henry(plus thousands of others whose kids you’ll never hear about) aren’t thinking ahead that far. When they see these legions of beautiful women chasing them and they pick one, they’re thinking about the sex, not the child support payments that could damage their financial portfolio later should they fail to use contraception. In the meantime, they’re also spending $30,000 a month on oversized homes, Cadillacs and parties, further jeopardizing their ability to support any children that come later.

Its a recipe for disaster, of course.

    3. @SweetDiva, that claim is false. These guys are bedding lots of women because they can, not because they have some deep seeded ulterior motive.
The fact of the matter is that pro athletes in general have many groupies. Even the very last guy on the roster has a number of women chasing him and his league-minimum salary.
Those guys are bedding those women because they’re attractive and they’re there-simple as that.
The problem arises when too many of them fail to plan ahead properly in the process and end up in financial trouble with a ton of child support payments.

I play at a D-1 school. Its in the Ivy League, and girls here care quite a bit less about football so I do not live this type of experience myself. That being said, I know plenty of guys at the D-1 level playing at much higher profile schools. These guys aren’t even pros, but I’ll tell you…they get chased. A lot. They go to a party, stand still for 5 minutes, and pick up a girl with no effort.
These are relatively unknown college guys. I shouldn’t have to tell you what its like to get drafted.

In all fairness, I should take the time to note that these guys at the pro level are under a very tough set of circumstances. They are at a rareified level of fame where legions of potential suitors(and the pressures that come with them) are standard fare. Its tough to resist a horde of beautiful women flying across the country trying to meet and have sex with you. Very few men ever get to such a level, so the difficulty associated with it is tough for most to quantify.

If I were in a similar situation(either at a bigger school or in the NFL), I myself would find it tough to resist gathering many partners as well considering the number of pretty girls who would approach me. Most men would have that problem.

Did he have all those children within 2-3 years? As he says he made some wrong decisions in the first 2 years at NFL.

I don’t even want to know the diseases going around in that world.
