KJ is adorable, but for goodness sakes can somebody please get that boy some lotion! lol
But seriously, he is doing his thing and it feels great to see someone so young being involved in something so positive. I have nothing but respect for KJ and his parents who are obviously doing a wonderful job raising him!

Good job! This child is living proof that in spite of advances in technology, learning the basics of reading and writing, literacy period, is the key to success! Books are not passe or out dated!
I wish much future success to you, you little handsome published author, at only nine years of age. Plus, you didn’t even have to be the child of a celebrity to get the job done!
Yeah to literacy in the new millineum!

Nice that he writing at an early age, but I’m completely unimpressed by a child interviewing rappers who do not make kid friendly music. The people mentioned use their music to degrade women, have sexually explicit lyrics, glorify the selling of illegal drugs and refer to themselves and others as n—-s. Why this is cute?

He looks like he’s about to give someone the finger, you know, flip somebody off in this picture.
Could it be his response to the lotion comments?
Just speculating.

I am Kemi, KJ’s mom and I have to say that I am very unimpressed that people took jabs about my son’s hands being ashy. Never judge people before you know what’s going on. KJ was actually having dinner with Drake’s mom Sandi Graham and they were eating funnel cakes with icing sugar after their fish and chips. Drake suddenly came to mom and KJ did his drop and photo before he returned to the other side of the restaurant. Meanwhile my son is the Music Director of HipHossip Canada and decides which rappers go on our BET show. “The Deal.” He is the youngest boss in Canada. KJ is not Nigerian. He’s American and his mom myself is Nigerian. His father abandoned him at 5 and dumped him in a plane back to Africa to me. His new wife could not “stand” my child near hers. 5 years later my son is a celebrity. Pl svisit his blog to see the pictures with drake’s mom. Thanks you BCK for featuring my lovely son. Dark skin children are discriminated on more than the light skinners. Ashyness etc is seen easily. KJ was a little down when he read your comments.

Hello, KJ’s mom. Say hi to KJ for us. Everyone on this board admires him, even the two people that made comments about his hands. I don’t think you guys should disregard that so many people said nice things about your son. Unfortunately, your son is going to learn eventually that there aren’t a lot of nice people out there and especially if you put yourself in front of the cameras. BCK is one of the nicest sites out there. I am sure if his pic were on another site, a lot of ignorant people would have taken the ashiness comments too far. KJ is a beautiful boy with a bright future. Please let him know that.
Ashy shouldn’t be so negative. It just means one needs lotion, but as you have explained, KJ had just finished eating before taking the pic. Either way, beautiful boy. Great future!

Thank You TinyTiny. BCK was the first blog that featured my son last year in the Halloween contest. The Editor came to me and discovered my son. She is awesome. I just felt bad because KJ was actually standing there reading the comments with me when I yelled to him in the room to come see himself on BCK again. I let it go now. Our children are the future and I love his talent. He is always in the nws here. Pls click my name and it leads you to a link he is featured. Visit his YouTube channel and see how he does PSA’s for the police department on twitter helping find missing kids and more. Thanks you all and BCK EDITOR. Awesome site.

Kemi, Your son obviously is a well adjust kid with a bright future head of him, still he did need a once over as all kids do when they finish eat especially sweets, please don’t take offense,My niece is also a beautiful chocolate child and we know we have to double check her because with her complexion things like powder sugar will show. But please tell him do not be offended because dark skin is Regal and nothing is more beautiful than being black, I wish good luck in his future endeavors and much success

Great advise! His nickname at birth is Chocolate Dreams. We live in a 3% black area and the second BEST place to live in Canada (Canadian Money magazine) Kingston, Ontario. The white girls love KJ and they call him “Blackberry.” He loves the nickname. They run after him all day long!

At Kemi,i was so disappointed when you said KJ is not Nigerian!!!! His name is Kayode Taiwo and yet you say hes not Nigerian, so what is he Ameriacan???? Even if he was born there… his Nigerian roots and features are clearly obvious!!!! I’m Nigerian myself and I have a biracial son that looks really pale and was born here in the UK. I dont deny he is part Nigerian!!!! Kudos to your son for doing so well and obviously, you have done a great job raising him. but that comment disregarding his nigerian roots aint right!!!

KJ is not Nigerian. He’s American. He doesn’t have Nigerian roots. We just gave him a Nigerian name. I am the same. My parents lived there and we were named Nigerian names.
