[...] Amidst the usual politics and corporate plundering, there was sickeningly harsh criticism of the Smith’s daughter, the teenaged sailor and the adolescent who successfully climbed Mt. Everest. And, the remarks made [...]

    I think Willow is adorable.
At first I didn’t see anything “too grown” about this outfit.
When I took some time to analyze I noticed that her jacket stopped at her waist. Willow has a belt right above her hips.
All of that right there draws attention to her hips. It is very grown.
Plus the boots go up her legs. Adult women wear long boots that hug their legs!
I love the Smith family, but I don’t think that Willow needs to try and be trying so hard to get peoples’ attention.
I’m 19 and sometimes I hate having to feel like I need to be “fashionable” to get other peoples’ approval.
Not that I think she’s been on blog sites to see what people said about her. I hope not!
I’d hate to have to accept that Rihanna’s her idol, because Rihanna does not do/sing about things that little girls should be concerned with. =(

  • N K June 12, 2010 at 2:27 am

Willow is a beautiful little girl with a great smile. Just wish she was dressed (including hair) more like a nine-year-old than a 29 year old.

  • SMH June 11, 2010 at 12:50 pm

Willow’s doing waaaaayyyyy too much!!! LMAO. She looks RIDICULOUS! Actually she and Jaden need to bring it down 5-8 levels. They are children acting like teenagers and it’s a total turnoff. I don’t know whose kids turn me off more – The Smiths or Kimora and her burnt out brats (yes, they’re already burned out at their tender ages). I’m very surprised at Jada for pushing her kids into this business. Yeah, they’ll say it was their choosing but you can tell they’re being as well as receiving nudges. Guranteed she’s going to be on the “bad fashion what were they thinking” page and this’ll be her wake up call to act her age and shop at The Children’s Place.

Some of these comments did make me laugh out loud.
Anyway as my Grandma would say “To each, his own” but I say not my Child and not my house!

    GOD Bless Them.

willow is a straight trend setter but the jacket has to go!! LHH girl got swagger for real she need to help her mother out LOL

  • Renée June 9, 2010 at 1:41 am

what is it to be “dressed like a little girl”!? that seems to be part of the discussion here… if anyone as an ideal in their mind about the way something should be, then its an ideal. basically, every individual as their own sense of what something should be or how it should be in better words. so i find it ridiculous for anyone to say she should be dressed like a little girl because thats something relative to each individual and clearly her parents didnt find it too age inappropriate for her to have worn it out in public. and honestly (stylist or no stylist), there are some parent s who dress their kids in outfitss that are actually age inappropriate, where the child is showing skin etc, willow is completely covered… i guess i feel that there are a slew of other items of clothing that she couldve worn that would have been age inappropriate, what shes wearing to me is just flashyy and a sign of the times.

  • Bunnyhop :) June 9, 2010 at 12:22 am

i just do not understand how her clothes maker her too “grown” or they are making her grow up too fast… she is not wearing a mini skirt with a halter top and some heels. now if she were, then you could maybe say something. willow is just different, and people can not seem to except different! geesh people get out of the 90′s, times have changed and 9 year olds have a little sense of style…. imagine that!!!

  • blankkk June 8, 2010 at 11:42 pm

she look amesssssss! im sryy i love tha family but thats jus not cut dress her like a little girl and not like a little woman;step it up jada thats jus 2 much tha hairstyle 2 im sry thats jus me:)

Okay, I might be called “old-school” for saying this, but I am sorry, that outfit is NOT RIGHT for a nine year old girl! It’s about the image Willow is projecting, and it’s saying that this is the outfit of a 50 year old woman at the casino instead of a little girl’s.
I am all for kids not being stifled and being allowed to have imagination, express themselves, and be unique if they wish. But this is too much–I’m a grown 23 year old woman and even I think it would be tacky to wear leopard from head to toe. What I do is accessorize. I have some great leopard flats with a matching bag and I wear that. Something like that would have been more appropriate for Willow; perhaps a leopard bag instead of an entire outfit.

    • Fashionedbygod33 June 8, 2010 at 10:15 pm

God forbid you and others (myself included) express these sentiments. We are labeled prudes, close-minded, growth stiflers, and everything else. Oh and let’s not forget the ever so intellectual, “haters.”

      • Yo-Yo June 9, 2010 at 1:25 am

It’s too bad will & jada are already rich cause these folks would co-sign absolutely anything for them.

  • Jmells June 8, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Okay let’s not be fooled guys the little girl has a stylist she’s not coming up with this on her own the stylist picks outfits if she likes it she wears it upon approval of her parents. I am all about little girls looking like little girls and I absolutley love how Ming Lee Simmons looks like a little girl, acts like a little and still rocks pony tails with hair balls and all and I guarantee my little girl will be the same way. However, I know that they are doing what works for this kid. She has always been cute to me but the media has always given her a hard time even comparing her to her brother saying she wasnt as cute or her hair wasnt as ‘good’ (and I’ve seen comments like this on this site). All they have done was created a ‘look’ for her Ming Lee is uber adorable in her ponytails and what not but that look does not work for this kid. We all saw her with the individual braids for the longest and it got old and if she was still rockin them all yall would have something to say. I was actually surprised that they would cut her hair but after listening to what Jada said about it on Oprah Im not even mad. The black community has always defined ‘beauty’ by the texture or length of hair and she wanted to be free from that. Im sure just like we know the negative things they were saying about her, she knew them too.

She may not look like a typical little girl but she is FULLY covered she doesnt have on any makeup and she has on cute little ear rings. I dont think its as big as people are making it lets get on Master P’s 13 year old daughter who is in low cuts short skirts and heels and lots of make up BTW

I may not totally agree with the look but I’m digging the confidence behind the look. I dont care how rich they are money cant buy you self esteem and soooo many little girls dont have it…

    • Fashionedbygod33 June 8, 2010 at 10:20 pm

I agree and unfortunately this is so true. Now that bothers me; our little girls having low self-esteem.

YOU PEOPLE R REALLY DISGUSTING THE HELL OUT ME.YOU DRESS UR CHILD HOW EVER YOU WANT TO. DON’T SIT HERE AND TRY TO SAY HOW SOMEBODY SHOULD RAISE THEIR CHILD. LIKE SHES GOING TO CARE WHAT YOU SAY.

  • jettgurrl June 8, 2010 at 8:24 pm

I am sorry, but why does a 9 year old have stylist? Why are Will and Jada trying to make their kids edgy and cool instead of just kids?

  • renae June 8, 2010 at 7:34 pm

    Willow is fierce indeed!

  • Hana June 8, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I guess your motto must be: Aim Low! I really do like what Willow is wearing. It is fierce and you’ll just have to live with it. lol

  • Nelly June 8, 2010 at 6:16 pm

HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT! Willow is a beautiful little girl, but this look is too grown for her! I would NEVER let my 9-year-old have hair or clothes like this….What ever happened to a pretty dress with a nice head band???

    • Hana June 8, 2010 at 6:37 pm

What happened was that Willow didn’t want to wear that (average) stuff. The end!

      • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 6:41 pm

That’s so sweet and diplomatic for you to say, Hana. It’s probably the truth of the matter.

I love ya all over again for being you!

        • Hana June 8, 2010 at 6:47 pm

This level of intolerance from supposed grown folks “going in” on a black child is embarrassing to me and says a lot about where we are as a people today. It’s sad!

          • Mimosa June 10, 2010 at 10:51 pm

How does this have anything to do with being Black? Did anyone tell you they feel the way they do about the outfit based on race (theirs or the child’s)? As far as your “embarrassment”, you should only be embarrassed that you are capable of being embarrassed by others’ opinions or actions based solely on race! No matter what has been said or done by anyone of my race I am never embarrassed. Smh.
If it’s not me doing something then it just doesn’t cut that way. I think you need to check your “enlightenment” because it seems rather dim.

    • keverno June 8, 2010 at 6:58 pm

I agree! She’s a 9-year-old child…. Bloggers. [sentence omitted]. Will and Jade needs to get off this Media Hype and tone it down with their kid’s appearance. This is ridiculous behavior from two grown Adults celebrity status or not.

      • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 8:38 pm

This comment is ridiculous. What is it that they’re doing that bothers you so? I don’t get it.

  • Sherley June 8, 2010 at 4:08 pm

It just crossed my mind to ask this question:

If your cousin Christina came to your wedding dressed like that, what would your reaction be?

How about if Rasheeda, who’s mom likes to wear stripper clothes everywhere, came to your daughter’s birthday party dressed like that?

Would everyone’s reaction be the same?

For me…yes. They would get a side eye & a SMH w/a smile on my face just like Willow got.

    • Hana June 8, 2010 at 5:09 pm

Well, in general I am an open-minded, free-spirited person, so my answer to your question is: Heck, yes, Cousin Christina could attend my wedding dressed like that! In fact, I might just add a little animal print or gold lame into my dress to make sure Cousin C feels included.

In high school I had to tell a van load of girls off for making fun of a women who came to church with heavy make-up (Egyptian eye) and semi-provocative clothing. The important thing was, she came to church…plus I had just discovered that she was my cousin and her two daughters were sitting in the van looking very sad. After I got off my soap box those girls turned and looked at me and I smiled. It was cool with me and I dared any one of them to talk any further about my newly discovered cousin. True story.

  • mommashane June 8, 2010 at 2:56 pm

This is a hot-mess. Its like looking back at Patti Labelle when she would wear her hair spiked up and her crazy outfits or even when she was the Labelle group. This has nothing to do with her being a child (although yes it does) but if she was a grown woman I’d say the outfit looks crazy. She’d be on the worst-dressed list.

  • Carrie da ENCINO chick June 8, 2010 at 2:34 pm

people stop acting like willow is your kid shes can wear anything she wants yall kill me always trynna judge somebody on this site. what is your daughter wearing??? probably dressing TOO GROWN! and here some of you go trynna bag on what this lil 9 year old has on. ugh grow up! it aint what you like its what she and her mother like, i think the outfit is cute i love her hair and she has her own personal style. if she came in there with a unicorn t-shirt with some pink capris and some flip flops yall wouldve thought JADA was wrong for making her wear that. yall always complaining over something! Get over it!

    • Lola June 8, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Rubbish, all the websites are saying the same things! Can you say thats appropriate for a 9 year old. My mum would never let me go out like that.

You act like you no them personally man lol. How can you say that Willow looks good. Shes a cute kid but comeon shes frekin 9 years old. The hair, the skin clothes and the bling is just too much. Like i said i’m dissapointed in Jada and Will.

Even if she was 14 or 15 you could say, yeah shes reaching the age where she wants to show what she’s got but the more i think of it the more i feel sick!

      • Carrie da ENCINO chick June 8, 2010 at 3:45 pm

THATS YOUR MOM. what because your mom wouldnt let you dress a certain way all mothers shouldnt? thats your mom. not jada. how do i act like i know them personally because i said her outfit is great for her age? theres nothing wrong with her outfit. people like you are just close minded. bling WHAT BLING? since when did it become inappropriate for young girls to wear necklaces? since when did wearing leopard skin become too “grown” for young people to wear? the mohawk?! its just hair!!!!!!!! people on this site was talking mess when she had those braids in her hair then once she gets a mohawk people are still talking. lol you people are really disgusting. and need some type of prayer. you judge any and everybody. the whole style of her outfit is retro. 80s. lol and why yall all complaining on what she got on, guess what at the end of the day shes still gonna rock her hair the way she wants and rock her clothing and best of all SHES will still be the cute wealthy kid! bye hata

  • Lola June 8, 2010 at 1:49 pm

What the hell? How did will and jada let her go out like that. She’s a cute kid but come on she looks like a grandma playing bingo.

The more i see the Smith kids, the more i think to myself that they arnt the parents i thought they would be. It seems like they let the kids do what they like, i remember Jada saying she wanted them to express themselves as much as they can, but comeon…they’re kids.

The hairstyle is a bit too grown for someone who’s 9 years old as well. If Suri Cruise or even Halle Berrys daughter had that style, the media would be going mad. Double standards huh?

Wow, money can’t buy class. Jada and will, take tips off the Obama kids on how to dress your children. You would never see them dressed like that.

    • April June 8, 2010 at 3:13 pm

@Lola…The grandma playing bingo comment was right on the money.

    • Sherley June 8, 2010 at 3:53 pm

      Hey Leo,

It seems Willow has the same stylist as Rhianna. So guess we can fast forward 10 yrs….

  • Nisha June 8, 2010 at 12:12 pm

She hass a very interesting sense of style, I can’t wait until she gets older and see how her style evolves

  • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 12:07 pm

The haircut is perfect for featuring the most prominent Smith family trait…those OUTSTANDING ears.

Nothing wrong with that…we recognize the Kennedy clan from all of their toothy grins. That’s their family stamp.

  • keverno June 8, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Only thing missing is the body piercing. Go ahead Jada and Will get Willow some piercing done she will be real COOL on the red carpet. I see age aint nothing but a number with this kid.

  • danidee June 8, 2010 at 11:35 am

I’m all for children expressing themselves but this is little too much for me. Willow’s hair style and outfit is a little too grown up for my taste. Even though, she is completely cover as a child should be. It’s like they(Jada and Will) allow their kids(Jaden and Willow only) to be mini adults. What’s the rush? Just my opinion!

    • Fashionedbygod33 June 8, 2010 at 3:48 pm

@danidee, this about sums up how I feel.

  • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 11:32 am

Little Mr. “T”…gold chain and all.

    • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 11:55 am

Even Mr. T’s combat boots, too. This look is not very original creative, or inventive. It’s Mr. T’s buffoon character, only with the chest and arms covered and a purse and shades in her hands.

Hi Keepin’ it real. Looks like the stylist for cute little Willow was getting her/his “A Team” on when she put together this get up.

          Just keepin’ it real! :)

          • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 6:13 pm

All I can do is agree, Khrish and say thank God the little girls have beautiful faces to offset this quasi-trendy hairdo.

It’s bad enough on little boys, but males were intended to traditionally wear it as warriors of the first real New Yorkers, the Native American Mohican tribe. Female Mohicans nor their children cut their hair like this.

      • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 12:37 pm

“Manly….yes, but girls like it, too”. “I pity the fool” who disagrees!

      ROFL! Classic!

  • Mimosa June 8, 2010 at 11:29 am

MOTHERS, STOP RUSHING YOUR DAUGHTERS! Stop living out your “life-sized Barbie” fantasy on your kids. I don’ know why some of you are giving props to Willow for this attire when her mom is the one who chose it. I see this so much it is sickening. People, please stop trying to make little girls look “hawt” and “fierce”! They’re only going to be children for a short while, but adulthood is forever so they (Little Miss Willow included) need to relax and be okay being a child and not overwhelmed with the need to impress others with their clothes. There is a way to dress them fashionably without having them dressed like a grown woman.

Wait until Willow turns 13 and starts mouthing off; the first thing from Jada’s mouth is going to be “You ain’t grown!” Well, stop treating her and dressing her like it. They used to look fine but it seems like over the last year Jada seems to have something to prove and is attempting to prove it by using her daughter as a billboard. There is no way my husband would ever agree to allow our daughters to dress like they’re 20 when they’re not even 12. SMH at this foolishness.

    • Hana June 8, 2010 at 5:02 pm

@Mimosa: How do you know for sure what went on during the family planning for the premiere? Does Willow look forced to wear what she wears?

      • Mimosa June 8, 2010 at 9:34 pm

How do YOU know? Most kids don’t “look forced” to wear their clothes. Their parent/s pick out the clothes and the kids have no other choice but to wear them. Are you really THAT dense not to know that? Sheesh!

        • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 10:50 pm

So you know for a fact that Willow was forced by her parents or is that simply your baseless opinion?

          • Mimosa June 9, 2010 at 2:32 pm

((Yawn)) Don’t question me. Question Jada’s motive for making Willow dress like she just popped out of a magic lamp. Lol.

  • LovesTreasure June 8, 2010 at 11:02 am

WILLOW IS F.I.E.R.C.E.!!!! I LOVE HER FREE SPIRIT….I JUST LOVE THE SMITH FAMILY….ROCK ON WILLOW…..I APPLAUD WILL & JADA ON THEIR PARENTING….OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!!!!

I AM A LOVER OF FREE SPIRIT…..I AM SOOOOOOOO LOVING THE HAIR…THE OUTFIT….THE PERSONALITY….HER WONDERFUL SPIRIT!!!!

AGE APPROPRIATE…..LOL….SHE’S NOT SHOWING HER ASS AND TITS!!!!

    I THINK ITS APPROPRIATE…..:)

  • Ann Brock June 8, 2010 at 10:38 am

I just think that nine is too young for such an extreme look.

    • Fashionedbygod33 June 8, 2010 at 3:46 pm

@ Ann Brook, I agree with you.

  • aries June 8, 2010 at 10:04 am

Willow is cute not feeling the two different animal prints

  • Keepin' it real June 8, 2010 at 9:40 am

She is freaking 9 YEARS OLD people!!!! I am not even talking a/b the hair but the jeelry and outfit is NOT age appropriate! WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

    • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 10:35 am

SO?! There’s nothing wrong with how she’s dressed…for a 9 yr old. No hoochie mama pants or skirts. No tanks or shirts showing nonexistent boobies.

Just so you know 9 yrs of age is technically the beginning of puberty and I knew a few girls (including myself) who began their monthly cycles at ages 9 and 10.

      • Keepin' it real June 8, 2010 at 11:11 am

@ Virgie- I could not care less when she or you started your cycle! This is NOT an appropriate look for a 9y/o..period!!(no pun intended) Willow is not expressing her free spirit. She is wearing what her parents bought for her. My 6y/o goes into my closet and plays dress up all the time but I have sense enough not to let her wear my 10 pound chain and ADULT clothes out in public..sheesh!!

        • Hana June 8, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Dang. I kinda feel sorry for your kids. You and others seem quite narrow and outdated in your thinking. I agree with Virgie about 95%. The other 5% I give to not really knowing for sure what went on in the Smith household when plans were made to attend the premiere. You’re (and Virgie’s) comments are personal and not every family or parent is going to agree with your methods. Give the Smith family, esp. the kids a break!

          • Keepin' it real June 8, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Babeeee- Don’t pity me or my child! She is happy, beautful, smart, kind and VERY loved!! She gets to choose from a couple of outfits each day. I allow her the right amount of freedom for a 6 y/o!! See, in our house, we know who the adults are!!

        • Mimosa June 8, 2010 at 9:36 pm

Thank you Keepin’ It Real!!! Very well put. Hana has lost her mind.

          • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 10:48 pm

I don’t think she (Hana) has. She appears to be a sound, independent thinker. Some of us are. :)

      • Mimosa June 8, 2010 at 11:39 pm

There you go Virgie. Just have to see your name in print. Happy now?

    • Jonella June 8, 2010 at 10:51 am

You better not say that remember you’re “hating” on her because god knows it’s wrong to think and say children should look and act there age no but remember you’re a hater. LOL it’s hard to believe her and Yara Shahidi are the same age oh that’s right because she dresses, looks and acts like A NINE YEAR OLD and Most important very intelligent without being arrogant and herself. But you know I’m hating of course.

      • Jonella June 8, 2010 at 10:59 am

  • stunnaz June 8, 2010 at 7:23 am

wow..my mind is not even that creative when it comes to fashion and i’m 20 damn. She is very creative…but what the hell did i expect with parents like will n jada.

  • Daphyne June 8, 2010 at 7:22 am

I love how this little girl rocks her hair and fashions. It is really obvious that she feels GOOD about herself. We should all celebrate our unique selves and stop trying to live up to societies superficial standards!!!!! Much Love……

    • Monique June 8, 2010 at 11:08 am

Yeah, the confidence is awesome. While I think that this whole look is a little too mature for a 9yr old, I’m willing to completely overlook that because I just love how confident these kids are–just like their parents. They’re going to have to be because whether you’re a Smith or not, Hollywood still isn’t lining up at your door to hand out roles to Black folks.

  • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 7:21 am

Whoo HAH! She got y’all all in check! Willow Smith is FIERCE and looking at mother and daughter you can tell that this is how the girl wants to look and dress (fro-hawk and all). Her mother allows her to explore this.

I stand by my point about double standards for black children (and parents) in the previous post regarding Jada Pinkett-Smith’s decision to pose nude for the Essence magazine cover. A double standard is a biased, morally unfair rule/expectation toward a certain group. In fact, it was difficult to find a white actress/model/mother who has NOT posed nude for a major, mainstream magazine!

What standard(s) exist for the others that exclude black women and girls?

    • MixtryMama June 8, 2010 at 11:41 am

You are SO right! And the people with these double standards are the same ones who will sleep with everyone they see.

    • MixtryMama June 8, 2010 at 11:54 am

This outfit is age appropriate. It’s retro and kinda MC Hammerish, but there is certainly nothing too “grown” about it. There is nothing wrong with a young girl wearing a gold chain. I think people feel threatened by children who are confident and not afraid to express themselves. They can’t stand it when other parents let their children just be themselves and grow up unoppressed. I think a lot of these folks want children to grow up feeling self conscious and unable to think for themselves. Those are the kind of parents who end up with sons wearing pants hanging off their asses and daughters wearing shorts up their…whozits.

      • toni2real June 8, 2010 at 12:42 pm

you put the words to the feelings I was having! thank you!

      • AJA June 8, 2010 at 1:26 pm

You all can’t really be naive enough to believe this girl put this outfit together herself. She is styled to within an inch of her life and some ADULT put a lot of thought into this outfit. It looks ridiculous.

        • April June 8, 2010 at 3:01 pm

I agree AJA. The first thing that entered my 35 yr old mind is that she was styled by a stylist. Personally, I dont like the outfit nor the Mohawk. I did, however, like the first cut (before it transformed to a mohawk) and was thinking about getting that style myself.

        • Sherley June 8, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Read she has the same stylist as Rhianna

      • JT June 15, 2010 at 5:11 pm

I watched an interview with Jada and Willow where Willow stated that she doesn’t like fittings and such. She stated that her mom simply tells her to do what she wants. That is one of the freedoms that Jada and Will allow their children to have. They can wear what pleases them. I grew up like that. I wore what I wanted, unless it was a special event. If my outfit didn’t match, then it wasn’t a big deal. If I had on all of my favorite pieces, of clothing, at once, it wasn’t a big deal and I thank my parents for that because I am not a slave to trends or what other people think I should wear. I wore halter tops, ties, baggy jeans, and etc. Also, I was allowed to speak my mind and say whatever I wanted to my parents as long as I was not disrespectful. I’ve noticed that some people are caught off guard when they hear a conversation between my parents and myself, even to this day. I enjoyed those freedoms and have grown to be a well adjusted woman. I plan to raise my children the same way.

  • EVELINA RAE June 8, 2010 at 7:20 am

Willow has beautiful eyes! I kinda like the pants, but not with the top. Pretty little retro girl…kinda a little Rihanna, in my opinion. Her hair is crazy big :(

I like Jada’s dress. Nice to see her in clothes again lol

    • Deedra June 8, 2010 at 1:46 pm

Willow certainly knows how to stand out in a crowd. WOW!!

    • Lashay June 8, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Ming Lee Simmons is 10 and Willow is 9 but Willow seems so much older than Ming. Kimora doesn’t want her kids to grow up too fast and she dresses them very age appropriate. My mom always told me to STAY A KID AS LONG AS POSSIBLE because once you’re an adult there is no turning back to a child and I found that to be very true. I so miss being a kid and my biggest decison was which color crayon to choose. Kids these days are trying to grow up to fast. My mother never even let me wear a halter top or spaghetti straps when I was a kid and in a way I’m glad she didn’t let me wear what I wanted because I would have been looking a hot mess.

      • what June 8, 2010 at 5:43 pm

There is nothing not age appropriate about her outfit. An outfit that isn’t appropriate for her age is something that shows all her legs (super short skirt), a midriff top, and heels. Willow is completely covered up. Don’t get me wrong, I do not like her outfit but as far as being age appropriate, as long as nothing is showing, she is fine. I don’t want to even get started on Willow’s hair and the jewelry is a bit much. If Ming had on that same top with jeans on and flats, I doubt any of you would say she isn’t dressing age appropriately. Don’t look at the outfit as a whole, break it up and you will see that it is just a top, pants, boots with leopard prints. Would I let my child wear this outfit? Yeah, just not all at once. Its a bit much for one outing.

        • Lashay June 8, 2010 at 6:28 pm

All I’m saying is that the outfit is way over-the-top for her age. It’s just too much going on at one time with the hair and the outfit together. It’s like she wants attention.

        • Ariel June 8, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Dont agree. she looks like a 30 yr old women in this outfit and her Mother (JADA) is dressed like a little girl. I think she (Willow) looks like she’s in a costume. The hair is terrible. At least wait to become a teenager to make these choices. They have her growing up too fast. She’s 9, not even 12. Sad!

      • Victoria June 8, 2010 at 9:49 pm

I know that’s right, Lashay. Childhood is a carefree time when the worries of the adult world are years away! Kids shouldn’t feel that they have to become minature adults as soon as possible. Part of being a kid is dressing like one and not hurrying to copy what the ‘grown ups’ are wearing. When I was nine, my mother didn’t stifle me but there was no way in the world I was going to dress three times my age. I know Hollywood is a different world but some of the same rules should apply, in my personal opinion.

  • Sherley June 8, 2010 at 7:17 am

She did shave her hair into a complete mohawk. As w/Mel B’s daughter, Angel, I don’t think hair defines a person. She’s still a cute girl. Not feeling the outfit.

    • Sherley June 8, 2010 at 3:48 pm

I read on another site that willow has the same stylist as Rhianna.

Well that explains the question of who picks out her clothes. Doesn’t seem to be her own style. Imagine that.

      • EVELINA RAE June 10, 2010 at 7:47 am

I knew there was a reason i called her a little Rihanna…she seems to be Willow’s mentor.

    • MsAngelfire74 June 13, 2010 at 4:14 pm

The hair is important. When I saw it, I was shocked. Hollywood is getting out of hand. A 9-year-old defines herself??? No way. And to address the haircut. Mohawks are a sign of rebellion. Modeling herself after Rihanna (Russiana Roulette) is not a good thing or something to take on lightly. Please, let’s not become numb to the warnings our children are giving us! I still love you Will and Jada…Keep it positive.

  • shesallthat June 8, 2010 at 10:25 am

omg – that is just so wrong!!!
she does not cute at all. my son just saw her photo and thought she was a little boy. creative is not how i would describe her attire at all. it looks like she put on the first thing that she saw and did not care if it was matching or not!

  • Virgie June 8, 2010 at 10:49 am

Willow Smith will be just fine, regardless. I support her choices and so do her parents.

  • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 12:58 pm

@mena…Lol. You’re right…Morris Day, MC Hammer and Mr. T morphed altogether in one little fierce female package.

  • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 1:18 pm

Also looks a little like a mini me MC Lyte with a faux Mohawk. The stylist was effective in reflecting the style of the 1990′s.

Mama Jada could have had input, too, because she was super hot in the 90′s with memorable film classics like “Woo” and “Low Down Dirty Shame”. The 90′s were good to the Smiths.

  • Hana June 8, 2010 at 5:01 pm

    Sounds cool to me! :)

  • Pisces June 8, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Can’t forget Tina Turner’s character in Thunderdome as well as the look Grace Jones used to sport back in the day. Everything gets recycled somehow!

Actually Angel Murphy’s style is more like Thunderdome. No disrespect intended towards the kids.

  • Fashionedbygod33 June 8, 2010 at 9:59 pm

And that’s all that’s needed, huh? lol

    Virgie wrote,

Yes and certainly NOT the negativity I’ve seen in here!

  • Mimosa June 9, 2010 at 2:37 pm

Lol. I know Right. That’s what the Smiths do. They make decisions then hold their breath hoping VIRGIE will SUPPORT them. I’m sure they are breathing easy now. Lol!!!
