djm, you need some help. Why say that? Having a bad day? Take it out on someone else. Nahla is cute in everyone’s opinion (well except yours, obviously)…do you not have good eye sight? got trouble seeing beauty right on your screen? Sleeping Beauty is a very old term all children look so precious, peaceful and beautiful. A lot of people who we call “beautiful” have average or, in our opnion, “not-as-cute as others” children, but this isn’t one of those cases where beauty didn’t create beauty, again in our opinion. We’re all God’s children whether you believe in him or not and he thinks we’re ALL BEAUTIFUL. HATER!!!

I took BCK’s heading over the photo to be nothing more than a reference to the children’s fairytale, “Sleeping Beauty”, which is so appropriate for a blog that features young kids. It’s a Disney classic that even Nahla’s generation will know about. That’s testament to how timeless and enduring and endearing the story is.

Why is it a problem when someone doesn’t agree that Nahla isn’t beautiful? Some of you really need to get over yourselves…everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yes she is cute and that is about it. Halle really needs to hire a hair stylist and someone who knows about clothing for herself and Nahla. I don’t know if it is hot or cool outside. Halle is dressed for summer and the lady beside her is dressed for fall.

@luvbug I think it’s YOU who needs to get over yourself. My main problem with their comment is the fact that they think everyone else who thinks Nahla is cute/beautiful/whatever, only thinks that because she’s the daughter of Halle Berry, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. To me, she’s one of the most beautiful children I’ve seen in a while. Next to, maybe, Milla Jovovich’s daughter. People can have differing opinions, but to be a smart Alec about it, just rubs people the wrong way.

Victoria……everyone is not beautiful on the outside even though they might be beautiful on the inside. Yes the Bible speaks on looks all the time. Rachel was beautiful or Sarah had a pleasing figure,etc. I never see darker children getting the compliments that Nahla and other lighter children recieve on this site. The same people that never think anything is wrong with Nahla’s hair are the same ones that would be talking bout her if Halle wasn’t famous. If Halle was ordinary person and brought her daughter to church or event with her hair like that….would be a different story. Nahla is just another ordinary cute little girl whom looks exactly like her mother. I don’t see Gabe nowhere in that girl……just like alot of you don’t see MJ in his kids. You don’t like what I said, oh well, I don’t give a crap. Some of you fools act like the sun sets on Halle and this kid. Not like you’re on her payroll,lol.

luvbug, first of all, I am not a fool, second of all, I do not recognize color, and third of all, while not everyone is beautiful on the outside, there is no denying that we are all created in God, Jesus Christ’s image. Everybody of all colors and hues are perfect and beautiful because they have been created in His image. For colorism to exist, for anyone to believe that one shade is “better” than another, is an affront. I comment on Halle and Nahla’s entries because they are a sweet mom and daughter pair, not because they’re “light-skinned”. I don’t give two flips about who’s dark or light.
I have gotten into arguments with White and other mixed-race people who have insulted darker skinned Black people. I have felt profound shame and disgust at people who practice colorism. Recently, I was even cyber stalked and viciously harassed because of a picture album I had displayed on Flickr of my African-American relatives–a white man felt that I was lower than dirt and needed to be ‘punished’ because I had the audacity to proudly and openly be BLACK. Now, I don’t think you know me or the sentiments and feelings I have in my heart and mind, do you? No. You do not.
