GET THE SCOOP ON WILLOW’S STYLE + IS THERE A FASHION LINE IN THE WORKS?
“She’s a rock star, through and through. She likes everything to have that kind of rock ‘n’ roll feel to it. Instead of ballerina flats, for instance, she’ll wear motorcycle boots,” says stylist Mariel Haenn of child star Willow Smith’s style.
“Willow is definitely inspired by Rihanna’s style,” Mariel adds. “We make an effort to give Willow her own style, so as not to be a mini-version of Rihanna, but Willow really knows what she likes and what she doesn’t like, and she’s vocal about it.”
But Willow’s mom Jada Pinkett-Smith has final say as to what Willow or her brother Jaden wears. “Jada said upfront that she didn’t want us to dress them like standard kids, like with Sesame Street T-shirts,” Mariel says with a laugh. “And the kids really like dressing as adults and hope that adults will want to dress like them. But Jada will put her foot down if there’s something she doesn’t like, though if the kids really love it, she’ll usually let it pass.”
According to Mariel, most of Willow’s clothing are custom-made. But not to worry! Willow and Jaden may soon have their own clothing lines.
“With Rihanna, pretty soon after she came on the scene, you started seeing designers from Forever 21 to Gucci coming out with styles mimicking her look. We hope the same thing happens here, but I think the ultimate goal is for Willow and Jaden to have their own line,” says Mariel.

bull double s**it.. i hate when celebrities take their “audience fo fools first of all willow was wearing braids skirts stretch pants vest sneakers and yes flats..less than a year ago!! sooooo now (listen)”her” stylist… better yet…stylist\publicist wants us to believe ..“Willow is definitely inspired by Rihanna’s style”..she has a rock n rool feel for dressing?! please.. this is a marketing set-up on willow’s name being on some clothing line so now they have start to tout it so kids and parents will remember by the time the line comes out..i’m a fan of jada and will big time but this stunt will back fire take it from somebody who know styling\brand\marketing..lets see who their niche market is?…child should be in school and parents should be bragging on their developing education…this a trend i’m seeing with AA kids the likes of diggy simmons, al b sure son,lil waynes daugther, and cymonnque, etc etc trending your child with no DEVELOP EDUCATION sad sad, if thats your child destiny its not going anywhere..encourage your child to get a education..beta not mention that wild child of achy breaky heart..as in she is doing it so why not AA kids!

These celeb sites are making it seem that the stylists only work for Willow, because they are Rihanna’s stylists. But actually, they are also her parents’ stylists and her brothers. So I’m sure it’s NOT just because of that and they have been going to Mariel for a long time….. I dig Willow’s confidence!So much beyond her years. I wish people would stop saying she’s the next Lidsney or whatever. For one, she’s WILLOW not Lidsney. How can you compare a 9 year old little girl to her??Willow is a smart little girl. I just saw a interview she did in London with Insider magazine. She is so smart!I was like wow, these words for a little 9 year old. She’s fine and I’m sure her parents put her in check, when needed. She actually seems like a shy little girl. Lol

What’s wrong with Willow having a stylist, even if she’s only 9?SOOO!?She’s in this industry, and most movie stars have stylists?(Yes Willow has been in some movies) She goes to premieres and red carpets a lot, most celeb kids don’t (well not as much as Willow and Jaden) It’s probably not even a big deal to them anyway. I’m sure they don’t go running around the house like that. They are having fun, leave them be. I think if they want a line, why not? They are always fully covered and stuff. No problem.
Some of you guys need to get over yourselves and stop judging these kids. You cannot judge them by everyday kid standards because they are not living everyday kids lives and both of their parents are eccentric and unique personalities! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way willow dresses and its just hair it will grow back. Better to do it now that at 35.
LOL @ hope that adults will want to dress like them. The kids like dressing as adults, huh? Seasme street t-shirts? They seem so contrived. I am not into their thought process but luckily, I don’t have to be.

That girl is growing too fast.
No matter how rich you are, how can a 9 year old have a stylist? She is not even a huge star (her parents are) so she doesnt need one. I’m sure she can easily get her mum to pick her clothes or whatever.

Jaden comes across like he’s all that, and i hated him on the Chris Moyles show.
Sometimes its true what people say, some people arnt as good as they look or you think they are.
Will and Jada arnt all that parents imo. From what ive seen on telly and stess the word ”ive seen”, they come across as bratty and fully arrogant.
Yes I believe the Obama girls do use a stylist, it was a stylist that dressed them for the inauguration, even though the clothing was J Crew.
Next…..give my daughters some real role models. Such as Malia and Sasha Obama or Ming and Aoki Simmons.

I think a lot of people on this site are old (close to 40 or above). It seems like all the kids at my church has them; girls and boys.
right. the little kids at my church were rocking them too. but i heard from one of the parents that her boys are not allowed to wear mohawks in school. so she let them cut their hair like that for the summertime and the mohawks are gone when school starts. that’s the only point i was trying to make. maybe not all kids’ schools have that dress code, but some do.
I hope she doesn’t start a fashion line.
Its not anything against her personally. I’m just tired of seeing celebrity start fashion lines! Just because you’re a good dresser or have a unique sense of fashion does not mean you need your own line!
Just stick to business you know! Leave a little more room for the [average] people out there who went to school, studied fashion, and have spent years trying to break into the business and gain success as a designer! The fashion industry is already competitive enough without having to compete with celebrities.

that whole statement above kinda irked me. first of all, i have never seen any other ‘standard’ (as she calls them) or otherwise celeb kids on here wearing anything anywhere near Sesame Street, and yet they still manage to come off looking cute, stylish, age appropriate, dare i say even moreso than her own kids. and then the fact that they admit that the kids like dressing like adults and hope that adults want to dress like them. wait a minute, this isn’t the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. since when did you see an adult that wanted to take their fashion cues from a kid? i already sensed she treats them like adults, like her equals. and this just confirms it. sorry, but i won’t be dressing like a 9 yr old anytime soon. i don’t even think what she has on is cute for 9 yr olds, personally. maybe because she doesn’t go to a ‘real’ school, but since when did you see a little girl rocking a mohawk in elementary school? they don’t even allow the boys to have that haircut. i still like the Smith parents as actors and professionals, but i think they need a personal reality check.
They do go to school, a school that Will and Jada own but they go to school…
@BCK reader I agree with you 100%, that is the problem with child stars the parents no longer parent and the next thing you know… You have a Drew Barrymore, Macaulay Culkin, Lindsay Lohan and/or Miley Cyrus on your hands…those are true cases of laxed parenting and treating CHILDREN as adults. As you stated, they are not your equal and when you let a child experience the freedoms and individuality of adults what does a child have to look forward to as an adult, not much, so it escalates! Not to mention when the parent allows them to “dress like adults” what do you then do when they want to “drink like adults” “or drug like celebrities etc. A child should stay in a childs place.
Oh and by the way…I am in my late 20′s (just been well parented).

I like Jaden style but personally don’t care too much for Willow style. I guess this proves that Jada is a softy because the stylist said she will let it slide if they really want to wear something, so she isn’t really putting her foot down. But I guess if they like it and they aren’t really hurting anyone. So why not let them be them.
@Mena, you’re right. I guess how Willow dresses is the least of their problems. There are so many other things she could be in to. I don’t necessarily like her style, but her parents allow her to express herself, and I guess, like you said, if it isn’t hurting her or anyone else, they are very fortunate.
