AUDIO: WILLOW SMITH APPEARS ON THE RYAN SEACREST SHOW

Willow Smith appeared on the Ryan Seacrest show earlier this week  to announce that she has officially signed to rap mogul Jay Z’s Roc Nation label.  This what Jay-Z  has to say about young Willow and her music:

“I heard the record first before I knew that it was recorded by a 9 year old. I was like “Man, that record is smash”. And then Jay Brown said ‘she’s nine and I was like ‘Whoa!’. Then he said ‘she’s Will and Jada’s daughter and I was like ‘Whoa Whoa!’ Then I went to Japan to do some stuff and they were all out there and I met Willow and she walked in and the first thing she said was, ‘I’m really nervous’. I thought that maturity, explaining exactly how she was feeling when she walked in the room, I knew right then that she is a star. I believe in Superstars. I believe in big records on superstars and I believe that she has both!”

Jay-Z  adds that he is excited to work with Willow in the following statement released to the public.

“We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow. She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It’s rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age. Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career.”

i was at this church confrence and a music guy came to talk to teens about hip hope and rock and roll but if u are a christian i dont think u should really listen to jay z because he makes people pray to him and stuff and music get prayed for by a devilic person to make a record we learnt this and i erased my whole itouch

  • kim September 10, 2010 at 12:54 pm

They are homeschooled because they go on location when Will and Jada are filming too not just because of their careers

  • Jessica September 10, 2010 at 11:05 am

I must say I’m embarrassed for Will and Jada that they would let her dismiss her education/schoolwork at such an early age. Not cool. I was down with her but now that she’s let the cat out of the bag… If she wants to be a popstar that’s fine but they need to make sure she’s doing her schoolwork first. I don’t want another undereducated black child in this country especially if she has the means to be up in the Ivy league. They should be taking notes from Barack and Michelle.

On a positive note her teeth are beautiful. She’s certainly not missing any scheduled dentist visits.

she sound so pretty, very well spoken girl, which i don’t hear girls her age sound like this too often lol

  • Mercedes September 9, 2010 at 8:33 pm

She looks a lot like her dad in that photo. No doubt that’s baby. Cute.

  • Required September 9, 2010 at 7:45 pm

now i know all of yall didnt understand your time tables right when u learned the, Hipocrites

    • Khai September 9, 2010 at 11:15 pm

I wasn’t really alluding to the times tables. I’m talking more of when she said she hadn’t finished her homework, she really doesn’t do work when the tutor is there, and the tutor hasn’t been around much because she’s always working. I’m not calling her dumb because the child seems very intelligent. Maybe she wasn’t 100% accurate about the time spent with the tutor, but I was just stating that it doesn’t seem like she does much schoolwork…

I learned my multiplications in the 2nd and 3rd grade. I learned them well and knew them without even thinking about the answer because I had agood mother that made me write them over and over until I memorized them. I also learned them in school.

She should know her multiplications like that unless she has a learning disability. She is going to be in middle school next year and don’t know her multiplications yet. There is a problem here.

I remember on a show Jaden, when he was about 8 or 9 was asked to read something by the host and it was basic and he had trouble reading the statement. This makes me wonder if they are even learning through their tutors. And as far as Will and Jada school they started, their own kids don’t even attend. They attended for one year and quit.

Will stated in a interview that he never needed college and just want his kids to be artistic. I don’t agree with him but I hope they will be ok. When you are not educated properly, people can take advantage of you and cheat you.

I’m happy Willow is getting a chance to peruse her interests and that her parents are so supportive, especially after they went all out for jaden & the karate kid.

She’s such a well spoken confident kid who clearly adores her mom, I love it. As far as academics Jada said in an interview earlier this year Willow isn’t good at math but reads at a sixth grade level, while Jaden’s good at math but reads at grade level. I doubt they’d let her slip too far in that area b/c this kid is clearly no dummy

  • Sherley September 9, 2010 at 3:55 pm

She resembles Jaden so much in that picture & Ryan know he needs to sit down

  • GTSA September 9, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Ok, now I am getting excited for this little girl. Go Willow.

That has to be the funniest pic! Hilarious Mr. Seacrest. Willow’s like, uh, ok.

  • Khai September 9, 2010 at 2:48 pm

Ok, so I was listening to the interview and it seems like she doesn’t do much schoolwork…

    • Mena September 9, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. They don’t ever seem to be in school. They are always out promoting something. When do they get homeschooled or tutored, if they are always working or promoting. I wonder if they can read and do math at their grade level. I know it don’t matter to them since they are rich and probably won’t go to college. Im just wondering..

      • aries September 9, 2010 at 6:01 pm

I listen to the interview and I am surprise that she admitted that she is not doing well in school.Jada and Will get your priorities together. They should get rid of the tutors, if they are not doing a good job. She is a 5th grader and she still does not understand timetables. Must children learn how to do timetables in the 3rd grade. Education first hobbies second

        • Jessica September 10, 2010 at 11:07 am

100% agreed. I know Will and Jada didn’t go to college so they may not be “education is the only way” x 10 but I’m sure they learned their timetables, passed 4th/5th grade and finished high school.

      • 123crizzy123 September 12, 2010 at 4:30 pm

I think this is a bad idea.It will tell other kids that you dont have to go to school to reach your goals, she should be in school and start this career when she is a bit older.I hope she doesnt expose her self or anything. she once said that her mother lets her wear anything she wants. This is why i wish every person could start from the bottom to the top to learn how the world is cause some kids just dont know and get anything they want. Also, there was a time when Jaden said his sister bullies him and his parents are always on her side, so maybe she gets anything she wants cause she is the baby in the family.

  • Ebony Starr September 9, 2010 at 2:12 pm

The only thing that I had a problem with is how lightly she is taking her schoolwork. Ryan is making a joke of her not getting or finishing her homework. If her parents are indeed instilling this type of work ethic for her career, then she should definitely apply it to schoolwork!

  • EVELINA RAE September 9, 2010 at 2:02 pm

Ryan looks ridiculously funny LMAO Willow looks kinda like a boy here. I hope she does well. Wouldn’t it be cute if Willow and Jaden did a hit track together? I’ll wait on that one. She sounds older, on “Whip My Hair”, then he does on “Never Say Never”.

  • EVELINA RAE September 9, 2010 at 1:59 pm

Her birthday is the same day as my sister’s…scorpios got a lot of spunk, watch out! Plus, Halloween babies are very original… i know two other then Willow.

  • Rachel September 9, 2010 at 1:56 pm

If you lot think a 9year old having a record deal is great then open your bloody eyes.

If this was any artist bar Will Smiths kid you lot would be saying ”another hollywood druggie” on the cards but because it’s the good old smith’s, its all great.

Why are they so keen to make their children stars at 9 and 10 years old.

    • EVELINA RAE September 9, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Maybe ’cause their children are all talented. Willard, III. (Trey) is an excellent Football player for his Christian High School at 17, Jaden is an excellent Actor at 12 , and Willow seem to be an excellent Singer at only 9 (10 in next month). I would want my children to excel in their “craft”, if you will, if they had these talents, but for now my kids will have fun in swimming lessons, skating, dance, soccer and gymnastics. Wouldn’t you want your kids to do what they love and reach the highest accomplishment they could? I know i do and will no matter what my child wants to do, well with the exception of Montana (Chippy D)i ain’t gonna be proud of that.

  • scorpio88 September 9, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Wow this is an amazing little girl…can not believe she is 9.5…and a Scorpio like me….

  • onum2 September 9, 2010 at 12:33 pm

I love it jay gonna make sure she is a star. This is so exciting. If you cant tell I am a Huge jay z fan soooo I feel like she is very good hands!

  • Me 2 September 9, 2010 at 12:25 pm

    GO WILLOW!!

  • miriam September 9, 2010 at 12:22 pm

wow!!! Wishing her the best for her Future!

  • Mena September 9, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Interesting. I don’t trust JayZ but I know he won’t harm Will or his daughter. I just wonder why Will and Jada didn’t start up their own record/production company and sign her themseleves. That way the money could have stayed in the family instead of Jay-Z getting half. Will and Jada both have music and business backgrounds, they could have done it.

    • Tiana September 9, 2010 at 1:36 pm

How exactly would Jay-Z “harm” Will or Willow?!
