VIDEO: WILLOW TO REMAKE ‘PARENTS JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND?’

“There’s a possibility” that tween star Willow Smith will do a remake of her dad’s song “Parent’s Just Don’t Understand.”

“There’s a possibility. It’s a really good song,” Willow says of her father Will Smith’s 1988 rap song.

In a recent interview with Yahoo, the 10-year-old star talks about her parents, her music, and lots more. Watch the Video below!

On the best advice she has ever gotten from her parents.

Have fun because that’s the best. If you’re not really having fun then there’s no point of really trying. And sometimes it can be work. You need to do it. Sometimes you have to do it because you have to promote your song.

On the message she wants other kids to get from her music:

I have the motto that says whatever you see in your closet that you like pick it and wear it. It’s not just your closet, but just your life. Whatever catches your eye. Pick it.

On what it is like being on Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label:

When I have an idea, and I express it to him, he doesn’t say, ‘Oh, that’s bad. I don’t like it. That’s bad.’ He tries to make it better.

it’s obvious the little girl is smart, she will catch onto her multiplication. Lots of kids her age are lazy when it comes to school, they’d rather be doing something they enjoy, so they slack on other things. She’ll be fine.

    Love the Smith fam!

hello, these kids were born into the business.

  • Summer January 1, 2011 at 7:26 pm

luvbug I couldn’t agree with you more if it was any other kid on the streets people wouldn’t think it was cute.

    • Christian January 3, 2011 at 12:57 am

Luvbug and Summer are both right.

  • luvbug January 1, 2011 at 7:09 pm

Why does people have to hate on this obviously grown behind child when they voice their opinion? She isn’t cute and she is to dayum grown!!!! Grown hairstyles, clothes and makeup and some of you think this is cute.

Disney You only get one childhood and when will she eventually have time for play when she is in her 20’s 30’s when she and adult and should act like one, she has her whole life to pursue this singing career and only one time in her life when she can be care free without the presser of adulthood. How dose it comes natural for her because of her parents there are many celebrity kids out there who can’t act or sing even though their parents can and you can support your child and at the same time tell them to wait tell their older when they can handle the presser and have a childhood.

That’s the reason why their hatin because their kids don’t have the talent! If it was their kids, they would want support. She’s cute and God gave her the talent to entertain, everybody’s not meant to become a doctor, lawyer, etc…Not saying that she isn’t book smart, but this seems to be her destiny.Plus it comes natural for her because of her parents.Playing to me,isn’t as important. She’ll eventually have time for that.

Just be happy and support the lil girl people and if you dont like her music then dont listen to it. I’m sure you would want your kids to follow their dreams and if they have talent why let it go to waste?? I’m just saying….Some of yall sound like some haters. I’m sure kids her age will love the song. My lil sister loves her songs so I go ahead and do you Willow!! Grown people should not be downing a 10 year old… Seriously!!

  • bck reader December 31, 2010 at 1:28 am

    • Monique January 2, 2011 at 4:47 am

Was so about to say the same thing.

      504 stand up.

  • Montoya December 30, 2010 at 10:20 pm

If they didn’t push their kids into the business, they are ALLOWING it when it’s clear these kids need to be in school somewhere. Willow even said that she can’t spend time with her friends because she has to make hit records.

    • Misse December 31, 2010 at 12:42 pm

But she has also said that she asked her parents to sing and entertain and so did Jayen. No matter what they do with “their” kids it is no ones right or business to judge. There are kids in school everyday at there same age and are worse off so school is not the issue.

  • Misse December 30, 2010 at 7:05 pm

They do not post this stuff on here for people to go around judging. From the hair to the schooling count on at least one negative comment. If her parents are okay with her hair and the way she speaks then who are we to have something to say. It is just nice to see people and children of color enjoying life the way most people wish they could. We will support everything else so lets SUPPORT one another and our children because no matter how silly it sounds they are our future.

I grew up watching the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air! “Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down.” I’m excited about this and can’t wait to hear the song!

  • Krystle December 30, 2010 at 4:17 pm

She uses her hands too much when she talks but she is very mature for her age and the way she talks has gotten better. Hope she continues to make good music

  • keyshia December 30, 2010 at 4:10 pm

How do u know they pushed their kids in the business.Stop judging and worry about yours.

  • Christian December 30, 2010 at 4:00 pm

I hope she don’t remake that song “Parent Just don’t understand”. I didn’t like it that much bak in the day.

The interview was good. She seem mature. I just hope she is getting her schooling in as well.

    Good Job.

  • jwoo2504 December 30, 2010 at 3:32 pm

But wait didn’t lil Romeo already remake that song.. So um yeah…

    • Christian December 30, 2010 at 3:58 pm

You are right, Romeo did remake that song with Nick Cannon and 3LW. I forgot about that, it was a while back. You got a good memory.

    • antigoniem December 30, 2010 at 7:08 pm

…and it was wack. Some songs shouldn’t be remade.

  • Shaydy Oakz December 30, 2010 at 1:30 pm

IDK how i really feel about a remake..

For some reason it wouldve been shocking if Jaden said he would do it..

But she raps and sings?? otay

  • serenity December 30, 2010 at 1:24 pm

shes cute I like her hair here,I would wear it, which means its too grown.

  • Da December 30, 2010 at 12:31 pm

I’m sure it’d be cute and produced well… but yeah, lets not do that……yeah.

  • nelly December 30, 2010 at 12:12 pm
