If you are a fan of television show The Game, then you may be wondering why child star Ericka Gluck(L),12, a.k.a the original Brittany Pitts (Brit Brat) is no longer on the show. According to Erica, “I would have loved to be back on the Game. I was not asked. They replaced me.”
Erica was replaced with young actress Katlynn Smith(R),13. Katlynn Simone Smith’s role on The Game has not been well received. There is even a petition to bring Erica back. Click here to read it.

I’ve been wondering since 2011 why they changed the actress that played Brittany Pitts. I actually did the math and figured that since she was 6 in 2006, she’d be 11 in 2011, not 13. In 2013, she’d just now be 13 lol. But Brandy’s character said something on tonight’s episode about her being a sophomore so they really made the Brittany character grow up fast lol. I think they changed the character because they wanted her older and thought it would be a good plotline for her to fit the whole stereotypical young fast boy crazy pot smoking teenager. Not sure why they’d change the actress though. Erica Gluck was recurring, but when she was on the show she had a good chemistry with Jason and Kelly. So they should have kept her. It was mean to just replace her with no explanation. But I kind of like the new Brittany, too, even though she can’t pass as Jason and Kelly’s kid. I think the new girl looks like a younger Lauren London and since she’s on the show now maybe she can be her little sister or something lol.
I just have a hard time with todays “media” medium being the internet. There’s no morals or responsibility to what is published on blog sites or trusted news sites compared to when the news was received from news papers, radio, and TV. There is no truth to the relation of the new young lady that is cast as Brittany Pitts and anyone associated with BET. She had to go through a rigourous audition process to get the job, and had absolutely nothing to do with last young lady not being cast back into her “former character”. The last actress to have this job may not have been ideal for the content that they are pursuing for the future of the show, it may not have anything to do with her not being a good actress herself. That’s showbiz people, and the new actress isn’t gauranteed a spot on there either. It’s not like they replaced a main character guys….cummon man, find something worthy to fight for. We’re in a recession, thre’s global warming, and a war going on. If this is something that people want to write petitions for and cry about when it doesn’t effect them, they are leading a rather charmed life….SMH….geesh.

I feel they need to bring the old Brit Bratt back, the “new girl” can be on the show as maybe one of her friends, a babysitter, a cousin, but not as a replacement…. besides I agree the orginal Brit Brat looks more like Jason and Kelly’s daughter.
It seems like I agree with most everyone on here. I don’t like the new Brittany. One she grew up way to fast, its not realistic that the girl when from sweet and young to trashy teen in 2 years! Second, the org Brit Brat looks more like Jason and Kelly’s daughter, and she was a good actress. The new one looks like she is trying to hard. I also agree with the people who said they messed the whole Pitts family up. I wish The Game would have the same vibe it once had, because right now it is not the same show.
Here’s a tip, if you want to cast a child of a light skinned black person and a white person, the child playing her should probably look somewhat biracial.

As a HUGE fan of the game i was really upset they replaced Erica. I just assumed she had another job or something. Why wouldn’t they call her back? I think she played Brittany very well. I don’t think taking the job from Katlyn would he nice or easy, but i mean it was Erica’s job first and how must she feel right now? Katlyn has done what one episode and maybe shoot a couple we havent seen yet where Miss Erica did soooooo many and i think she looked really cute and really looked like Coby (Jason)and Brittany’s (kelly)child. I hope she comes back. This topic shed to be the biggest deal people had with the BET take over.
Okay I have never and do not plan on watching The Game, but looking at the pics of the twoo young actresses, the difference is so striking. I have seen Derwin and the woman that plays his wife and she the one on the right does look like she could be actually be their daughter. But the one on the right looks so much older than 13. I wouldn’t say grown woman status exactly, but she’s not looking 13, maybe 16 to 18 (only going off the headshots above).
Brit Brat is actually Jason and Kelly’s daughter. Derwin’s character is father of the little boy (DJ). I agree, with the others, the new Brittany is way too grown to be their daughter. I guess that is the direction they wanted.

The girl on the right is 13? Great day in the morning. I don’t personally care about the actors change in the show because I am not into The Game like that, but I can understand many of the poster’s points on here.
Okay, I must admit that I have never seen an episode of “The Game”, but now all of this controversy has me curious. I’ll be back to weigh in, lol. Btw, why is she called “Britbrat”? Or is that something I’ll have to watch the show to understand?

Tia did a interview where she said the show was taped “gorilla style”. Where they taped all 13 episodes in a little under 6 weeks. There was no rehearsals and only a couple of takes not too many redo’s. As far as the New or Old Brittany it doesn’t matter to me one way or another. They’ve basically destroyed the whole Pitts family anyway. I mean when the show stopped Kelly wanted Jason back now she’s bitter and on a reality show. Also if you think about it Brittany’s attitude would become bratty being around a mother and father whom are both bitter and constantly fighting. Remember people this is BET we’re talking about the new Brittany probably cost way less than the old one!
I agree, they’ve completely ruined the Pitts. Seems like they might ruin Derwin and Melanie too, i’m hoping they don’t.
As soon as I saw New Brit Brat I went to Facebook and said “shouldn’t Brit be about twelve now if they say it’s two years later? Why is this grown woman playing Brit” and i got like 20 comments agreeing wid me. No offense to the New Brit but image wise, it just ain’t right. And how are they gonna drop Erica like that? W/o so much as a warning? Didn’t they do Judy from Family Matters like that? See what happened? SMH
oh and also all the photos of baby DJ on BET’s website were kinda weird. i mean, there are a lot of them. it’s like they went and borrowed personal home pics of the kid to put on the website, along with some that they took with his tv mom and dad to make it look like a photo album of the 2 years we missed seeing DJ grow up. i dunno, the whole thing was just strange to me lol!
no shade to the new Brittany, but you can’t change out a character on a popular show this far in and expect no one to notice. this isn’t a soap opera, the fans won’t be as accepting. she was the original from the pilot episode, so i think that’s why people like that one better, not that she’s necessarily the best young actress for the job. not to mention the original one totally looks like she could be the offspring of Jason and Kelly. the new one is just outta left field. the scene she was in with them didn’t feel like she was their child. more like a bratty niece. i want the old Brittany Pitts back too.
if you haven’t been watching the show from the very beginning (i mean in order from seasons 1-3, not the sporadic episodes that BET chooses to rerun) then you honestly wouldn’t get it and can’t say the show is boring. they don’t have so many fans because it’s a ‘boring show’. so obviously there’s something you’re missing.
and also fyi, i have voted in every election since i’ve been able to vote (especially during the 2nd Bush years) and i’ve gone on to higher education beyond high school. one degree under my belt and working on another. so we’re not all dummies out here. although i don’t see what any of that has to do with this show…

Youz a damn trip. I was just googline the actress Katlynn Smith and I found this thread to be funny as heck. You always acuse people of being related to the actress in some way or another. You must be Erica Gluck if that holds true. You sound like a bitter lonely person. Most people like you would never say hurtful things about people in person, but feel that it is ok to do it online. Y’all feel powerful to be able to write anything that you want like there aren’t any consequences. I feel sorry for you in a way, and I would tell you that in person. That is not to be mean, but just a show of sympathy to you and others like you. Katlynn Smith, no relation to Kenny Smith, has more talent than you could ever hope for. I know that is a hard pill to swallow, but the truth is the truth. That is the reason that she was selected out of hundreds of young talented actresses to play the part of Brittany Pitts. Yes The Game is not polished like it used to be.I miss Erica too.I don’t like the new Brittnay either.It just look like they just threw everything together and didn’t put much thought into it.Smh!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not a fan of The Game (sorry, i tried, but I kept wanting to hit a lot of the characters with a 2 x 4), but I can see on both sides of this issues.
1. When the Powers That be decide to recast a character without any rhyme or reason for the change, it rarely goes over well with the fans. Rarely. It would have to be a case were the first actor stunk and the second is outstanding. Angry fans, especially for a show that was off for 2 seasons, doesn’t sound a recipe for success to me.
2. While I understand the ire of the fans (been there myself before I decided to flip the bird at TV), the cast change puts the new actor/actress in the line of fire and I think that is an unfair position for them. Yes, it happens a lot in the business and I acknowledge it, but I’m sure it doesn’t sting any less for the new girl. Honestly, I’m more upset at The Powers That Be for putting her in this situation. I’d understand if the original actress was busy with school and/or another project, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here – and now a 13 year old is getting flamed. Way to go, show people. Brilliant decision.
The Game is no longer what it used to be. Most of the characters are all over the place. So far it has been boring and unbelievable. I was so excited to find out that it was returning, but I am really disappointed in the writing. Bring back Girlfriends!

I agree!! Even though I watch the game I was a HUGE fan of Girlfriends, the bond and acting among the characters were AMAZING! Where was the petition when Girlfriends got cancelled? They didn’t even get a proper finale! It might be too late to bring back the show but they could always do a movie (one that includes Toni Childs)
I always wanted a “Toni in NY” spinoff. The pitch: a beautiful single mom that sells high end real estate just as the bubble has burst. We know Toni Childs specializes in results so what hijinks will ensue as she tries to make it to the top?
@Hmmmm – This is show business. People get placed and replaced every day. If the young lady can’t handle it, then she doesn’t need the job. Viewers (that brought the show back to a rousing success) are saying they don’t like this change.
Remember old Lionel vs. new Lionel on The Jeffersons? That part wasn’t done right until old Lionel came back. Team Old Brit Brat!!

It’s hard to believe the new Brittany is only 13, she looks like a grown woman on the show. And regardless of whether she is biracial, she does not look like a believable offspring for Kelly and Jason.

This new Brit Brat isn’t working. They need to replace her pronto, bring back Rick Fox (Terrence J aka Dante and Tasha – no go), and restore Malik and Tee Tee’s relationship.
Even though they’ve changed some of the very things I LOVE about “The Game,” I’m a lifer and supported it when the pilot aired and will support it until it is no longer seen. Thankfully, I have the box set!

I am fine with ppl getting big breaks, however, I think it isn’t fair to the audiene nor Ericka. We have spent close to five years watching this show and we ALL have grown to love the characters. The way they moved on without the orignal Brittany was wrong, no explaination, nothing! How would you feel if that was you or your child? You wouldn’t like it either.

I agree the Pitt family was definitely screwed. Kelly will now only be on the show for a few episodes and I loved this character. Jason was also an a** before but now they are just making his character look foolish and Britt Bratt is just over the top. The show in general has changed for me since moving to BET. I hope it gets better.

OK.. should’ve read the petition to get my answer before posing my question. If this is true, that is a dangerous move on behalf of the decision making players for this program. It may seem like a slight change in their eyes, but this could have a major impact on viewers.
I want Ericka Gluck back on the show and will petition to get her back. I am sorry but the new girl is too grown and I didn’t like her. The litte girl should be biracial and it should be Ericka Gluck. I do not like it when they replace kids. It reminds me of what they did on “My Wife and Kids” with Claire.
