DWYANE WADE’S CAMP BRINGS TOGETHER FATHER AND SONS
Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade is in his hometown of Chicago this week for the 4th Annual Wade’s World Weekend to benefit the Wade’s World Foundation. The NBA star has several events planned for the weekend, including a talent show with performances by singer Jawan Harris and rapper Diggy Simmons.
“I think that’s the best part of the weekend,” Wade tells ChicagoTribune “It’s what the weekend is all about — giving kids a platform. Our motto is ‘Every child deserves a shot.’ Maybe one day a star will come from Chicago Has Talent.”
Proceeds from the events benefit the Wade’s World Foundation, which helps children in at-risk situations.
“The Wade’s World Foundation provides support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations. Dwyane was inspired to start the foundation because he wanted to give back to under-served communities and support issues of purpose. “I can’t just let basketball define who I am and what I am supposed to become,” said Wade. “Like my mother always tells me, ‘[My life] is bigger than basketball.’” (Source).

They do have their mother, the difference being that the dad has full custody!
Anyway, I do not know this guy personally (LOL) but from what i have observed on BCK, he seems like a nice guy. BTW, most celebs do things in order to further their names…i mean, even companies do that, and i see nothing wrong with that as long as someone benefits on the other end in some way.
to end it all: his sons are cute, and so is he but i firmly believe that people should be mainly awarded joint custody of their kids (except in special circumstances when its discovered that one party is unfit for the job i.e. keeps the kids away from the ex e.t.c.)
Little Boys also need their MOTHERS just as well as little girls need their fathers. Its funny how when a mother is taking care of her son oh he is going to end up bad because he doesn’t have a father BUT when the child is being raised by just his father oh all of a sudden he doesn’t need a mother!

i really hate him..he is one local hometown celeb that Chicago isn’t proud of. Our boy is Derek Rose..Derek has character and a great personality along with good looks!
Not sure how someone can “hate” a person they don’t personally know. The article isn’t about Wade or Derrick Rose and his “good looks”. It’s about the foundation and what it’s doing for people in Chicago. From the pics, the folks in Chicago seem proud & supportive because they showed up to the event. Focus on the positive.

Amen to that. I never understood that either. Hating on someone you donot know. Priceless. I am sure D’wade sitting in a corner crying because you hate him.

I agree. It’s funny though, I dislike LeBron as a basketball player and he is beyond the point of cocky but I actually think he is a far more genuine father and partner to his sons and Savannah. Dwyane puts on a front but it’s clear his sons are accessories to his “good son” image he tries to create.
he did his ex-wife terrible. he let his celebrity status go to his head. and i believe his mistress gabby break a union played a very big role in how he turned on his wife. how you gonna just turn on someone you been knowing since childhood. money does change people and d wade is proof of that.

Here we go again trying to blame Gabrielle for what dwade and his ex did to their own marriage. All gabby did was date him while he was seperated. you can look around you and see regular people doing the same thing. And lets not forget the ex used his money to support another man while still with him so find something else to hate on like high gas prices, unemployment, or better yet the unfair treatment of our PRESIDENT.

Something about this guy never sat well with me. he does all this to promote his own image and further his own agenda. Wade wants to be a brand; said so himself. He loves his sons but they are used as media props to further better his likability with the public but underneath that is clearly a cocky and calculating guy who wants to profit for his own name.
He never comes off as genuine and I can’t stand behind that. I do hope that people he “helps” gets something out of it, but other than that, I have no plans to further his popularity or add money to his bank account.
