TAYE DIGGS AND BABY TALK

Taye Diggs is an accomplished actor and the author of children’s book Chocolate Me . While recognized for excellent articulation, Taye has a confession to make: he engages in baby talk.

The actor revealed the confession on his personal blog. Taye writes, “I don’t know about y’all who are parents, but with my son, Walker, I’ve somehow started adopting a new “dad”  vocabulary…Some words I’ve used…“pop pop” — pacifier; “banky” — blanket; “baba” — bottle.”

For those who don’t know, baby talk is the process of simplifying words so that infants and toddlers can understand. Although the idea is to help children learn the English language, many adults end up teaching themselves a new communication method. Parents are especially prone to baby talk, and Taye Diggs is no exception.

Taye recently appeared on the Ellen Show.  Check him out now!

    I agree.

I don’t think it is necessary to talk baby talk. When babies start to talk in “their” language they are actually trying to pronounce the correct word. Just because it doesn’t sound right when it is comes out of their mouth, in their mind they are saying it correctly. Just because you say “banky” instead of blanket you think they’ll understand it easier? Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.

I disagree, you still can be black and proud even if you happened to fall in love with someone of another race.

And this concludes my fact that a large percentage of this society is retarded. If you don’t like him don’t read post about him! Is it really that hard oh i forgot that for some folks here that a bit of a challenge.

He’s starting to look less like a “swirl” and more like a regular little chocolate chip! He’s a cutie. I wonder if they’ll try for another baby.

They’re both almost 40, I think. So I dunno about a second baby, really.

    • chi November 16, 2011 at 5:18 pm

i was thinking the same thing.

That’s cute and his son is adorable but hearing an adult do baby talk after a while is annoying.
