‘THE PRE-GAME MEAL’ WITH THE ALLEN FAMILY
Shannon Allen is the wife of NBA star Ray Allen. She and Ray recently learned that their 4-year-old son Walker has Type I Diabetes. As the wife of an athlete and mother of a diabetic, Shannon knows about healthy living. She recently launched a cooking show called “The Pre-Game Meal” that gives tips for healthy eating.
When asked about her show, Shannon made it clear that she was not a cooking professional. As Allen states, “I’m not a chef. I don’t pretend to be. I’m just a busy mom who has happened to be making a pregame meal for the past 15 years. I have a husband who is a professional athlete and food is very important in getting him to his next athletic performance.”
In addition to her husband’s career, Walker’s medical condition has also changed Shannon’s meal preparation approach. The mom explains, “I never even knew what a carb was before Walker was diagnosed and I had no idea how it impacted your body and your circulatory system, your pancreas. I didn’t even know what blood sugar was. But you really have to have a conscious effort and take responsibility for what you put in your mouth because eventually it really does affect your overall health and wellness.”
Shannon’s show made its debut on February 13, 2011 on Comcast SportsNeT and NECN food show. In addition to television, the NBA wife raises health awareness via her Facebook page and website.

I have 2 kids that are Type 1 ……It’s something else ….
This is sad. My cousin died two years ago from complications from Type 1 diabetes. She was only 27. Sigh.
Their all cute kids I honestly thought that the first.one was a little girl.
Im a Florida so I HATE the Celtics but I like Ray Allen & his family is beautiful..
How I love me some Ray Allen Go Celtics! Anywho I remember when they found out about Walker’s condition it was the NBA finals I wish him the best and a cure for diabetes it runs in my family!
their boys are cute. the one in the left pic reminds me of Swizz Beats oldest son. the one in the middle pic reminds me of Solange’s son Julez.
I thought the same exact thing! That’s literally who I thought they were for a split second there…
actually the one in the middle reminds me of Henry, Seal and Heidi’s son…
My guy friend’s daughter was diagnosed with type I diabetes, she’s 3. I will keep him in my prayers as well.
