SPOTTED: KIMORA, DJIMON, AND LITTLE KENZO

Kimora Lee Simmons, husband Djimon Hounsou, and their son Kenzo,2 1/2, were spotted arriving in St. Barths, France on December 19, 2011. The trio were on their way to meet up with the other half of their family-Russell Simmons, Aoki Simmons,9, and Ming Simmons,11- who were already at the popular vacation destination.

Mom Kimora recently opened up about how she balances motherhood and her career. She said, “It’s about prioritizing. Just take it one step at a time. Do the best that you can. I’m a mom and I have two husbands – an ex husband and a next husband. It’s a blended family and it’s very hard to keep things together, but we’re happy and we live in love. Djimon and I are so happy. Like every mom, you try to juggle, but I also want people to know that you don’t have to be a superhero. I’m not a superhero, I have a team of people who help me. I have a great family support system. I want people to know that you don’t have to do all of this stuff by yourself. There’s no award that goes for doing everything yourself. I applaud mothers everywhere.”

“ex husband and a next husband” maybe she was being funny but that doesn’t sit well with me. I love Kimora tho and lil Kenzo is as handsome as he wanna be.. I love this family.

  • Sigh December 21, 2011 at 8:58 am

    beautiful fam

  • Hope22 December 21, 2011 at 5:58 am

Another comment taken way out of proportion… ex HUSBAND and next HUSBAND equals 2 husbands??? Count them in the sentence, yes 2.

Anyway… I so respect Kimora, Djimon and Russel for doing away with the pressures of society and focusing on what matters most i.e. their children. Even Kenzo gets to have a 2nd dad in the process being his older sisters dad – did u see the pic of Russel feeding Kenzo??? Too cute…
I wish people could learn from this situation, instead of doing what is expected – the ex husband and wife fighting, the current husband pretending to be the only father etc. Learn, balance, put the kids first. People divorce but it don’t mean that you hve to choose which parent to see over a holiday!!!

    • Sherley December 21, 2011 at 11:20 pm

Where did anyone say Kimora’s comment equals she has 2 husbands? Yall getting your panties in a bunch over something that wasn’t even said. Try wearing thongs..they don’t bunch as much.

      Goodness!

  • germanwom25 December 21, 2011 at 3:57 am

I think Kenzos hair is way toooo long (sorry). I don´t have anything against a big afro or long hair for boys, but thats not nice any more…. and it hides his beautiful face.

  • tanja December 20, 2011 at 5:51 pm

beautiful family….kenzo is too cute…kimora beautiful and djimon is handsome!!! btw…i just read janet´s book….and that is when i found out that he was the black guy in Love Will Never Do….never knew it…makes me love the video even more

I am loving Kimora’s outfit. Simple, but yet she looks so fly. Little Kenzo is a cutie as usual!!

  • Pisces December 20, 2011 at 1:41 pm

I just learned that Djimon maintains dual citizenship in the United States and his country of birth, Benin.

In Benin, the Yoruba priests of Olokun, the Orisha of the deep ocean wear dreadlocks.

Also, in ancient life in Benin, the height of a male’s hair was a sign of power.

Kenzo is so cute. Hakuna Matata!

    • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I love it! It fits Kenzo..my little King in the making! But umm..does Dijimon know he’s bald though?

      • Pisces December 20, 2011 at 1:58 pm

Hi Sherley. As a matter of fact as men age in the Benin culture they shave their heads.

As I read up more on Djimon’s background, I also thought it interesting that the Japanese translation of the name “Kenzo” means 3 and that Kimora chose it because he was her third child. Traditionally, it means “third son” and can also be translated to mean “gifted treasure house” depending on the parents intention in naming the child.

I also read that the name Kenzo is rarely given nowadays so in Japan mostly men over age 60 have this name.

I love your avatar, Sherley. It’s so you.

        • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Hey Pisces, thank you, my son said the same thing. :)

So Dijimon is keeping up with his Benin culture & Kimora hers. Their children will have plentiful knowledge of some many things. They are blessed. Thanks for sharing the knowledge you attained w/us.

      • connie1 December 20, 2011 at 4:32 pm

EITHER WAY, KENZO IS GORGEOUS AND DJIMON IS FINE! LOVE KENZO’S AFRO. IF I HAVE KIDS, MY SON AND DAUGHTER WILL HAVE HAIR LIKE THAT!

        • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 4:42 pm

You know what’s funny? I keep my hair natural & in an afro or ponytail, however, I keep my son’s hair cut low. I never thought about letting it grow out.

          • connie1 December 22, 2011 at 11:50 am

IS IS BECAUSE YOU WANT HIM TO “FIT IN” WITH SOCIETY?

  • Nickee December 20, 2011 at 1:20 pm

Thats great that they are able to “blend” their familes so well, however I wonder if Djimon ever gets a little sick of that. it seems Rus is included in every single thing. I have to wonder if Kimora was single and Rus was remarried would he find it necessary to include her in everything.

    • Victoria December 20, 2011 at 2:32 pm

He probably wouldn’t, but Kimora’s the one who has sole custody of their kids, not to mention she now lives on the west coast, so it’s not really an even comparison.

  • Maryam December 20, 2011 at 12:06 pm

I guess. To each his own. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 10:36 am

Yay..my baby! I am in love with Kenzo. His hair is fine..he’s simply a handsome little man.

I know Kimora says things that makes me raise eybrows, but the “I have two husbands, an ex & a next”, made me do a double take.

    • kay December 20, 2011 at 10:51 am

ditto! n just to reitterate kenzo is beautiful

    • PlainMean December 20, 2011 at 2:31 pm

I’ve pointed out before that the arrangement with the adults is weird.com… I also never believed that her and Djimon were legally married, and this comment is further proof for me!

      • Melanie December 20, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Legal marriage is nothing but the signing a piece of paper, which truly has nothing to do with marriage anyway. Just because they don’t have a license saying that they’re married doesn’t mean that they’re not married.

        • PlainMean December 20, 2011 at 3:11 pm

Oh please with the marriage is nothing but a piece of paper crap! I get so tired of people trying to lessen the meaning of marriage or make it seem unimportant. That’s your opinion, and if you don’t value LEGAL marriage then – do you!

          • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Agree Plainmean. Just because others do not value the real true meaning behind marriage does not mean it’s insignificant.

Case in point Vanessa Bryant is set to receive $75 million becasuse she was married to Kobe. Common law or that’s been my man for 15yrs women can’t even receive the Social Security benefits.

        • Tee December 21, 2011 at 12:47 am

You CANNOT be serious Melanie….If it was truly “nothing but signing a piece of paper,” it would be done more often. The TRUTH is that for my husband to ask, then follow through with THIS long-term marriage, it meant to him then & still does today that he wanted to COMMIT to me forever, trusts me with EVERYTHING that is his (his heart & his money), and that he wanted to then & still does COMPLETELY PROVIDE FOR and PROTECT myself and our children. When a man won’t do that, he is no man…, He’s just posing, oh, and USING you. And Sherley, I need to pick-up your banner – COMMON LAW meant that my “Auntie” whom my uncle NEVER thought enough of to wife (after 5 kids), died after 40 years together, and SHE GOT NOTHING aside from a burial policy SHE paid for. She had to take in borders just to keep her home, and his substantial pension & Social Security reverted back to the city & federal government since there were no minor children to receive the benefits. WHAT A WASTE!!! O_o

    • Belinda December 20, 2011 at 3:04 pm

Sometimes people are just too far reaching, and read too much into what everyone says. Some things are just figures of speech. She could just feel the way she does because she does have both men present in her and her kids lives, and they feel like one big family. But I seriously doubt her and Russell are banging or they are living some role-reversal polygamist lifestyle. He doesn’t even pay her spousal support (which I know because TMZ or whoever leaked their divorce settlement when they got divorced), so it’s not like anyone can say she’s trying to hold onto him for monetary purposes.

      • PlainMean December 20, 2011 at 3:14 pm

@Belinda, the only person reaching is you! No one said that Kimora and Russell were still banging or that she was trying to hold on to him!?!?

        • Sherley December 20, 2011 at 3:53 pm

Thank you PlainMean. As I reread what I wrote three times & still didn’t see where I said they were doing any of that.

    • Susan December 21, 2011 at 2:36 am

@Sherley…why do a double take when she says that she has an ex-husband and a next husband? am sure you are bright and you know what she means by that statement…dont twist it

      • Sherley December 21, 2011 at 11:15 pm

Because I don’t typically hear those words in the same sentence. So Susan, explain to me how me doing a double take equates to me twisting Kimora’s words.

  • Forever December 20, 2011 at 10:16 am

Wow I cant believe Kenzo is almost 3.

  • LILI December 20, 2011 at 10:15 am

HE NEEDS A HAIRCUT. LOOKING LIKE HEIDI’S KIDS.

    • Celeste December 20, 2011 at 10:29 am

      Nappy and happy!

      • Kiki December 20, 2011 at 2:07 pm

        ..and beautifully so!

      • shayshay December 21, 2011 at 1:34 pm

HIS HAIR IS NOWERE NEAR NAPPY SO STOP WITH THE NONSENSE

    • Miracle December 20, 2011 at 3:10 pm

There is nothing wrong with Kenzo’s hair and there was nothing wrong with Henry and Johann’s hair neither. AA’s have a curlier hair so it’s harder for the natural oils of the hair to distribute down the shaft, so that’s why the hair doesn’t look as shiny as people of other races, but that doesn’t mean the child’s hair is completely dry and brittle or that someone didn’t put some moisturizer in it.

    • connie1 December 20, 2011 at 4:30 pm

HE DOESNT NEED A HAIR CUT! JUST IN CASE YOU DIDNT KNOW, KINKY CURLS ARE IN! GORGEOUS LITTLE BOY WITH GORGEOUS HAIR. HEIDI’S KIDS HAVE GORGEOUS HAIR TOO! SO STOP TRYING TO MAKE EVERYONE LOOK BORING AND THE SAME.

      • Susan December 21, 2011 at 2:34 am

        Love that family!
