TAMEKA RAYMOND TALKS MOTHERHOOD AND WORK ETHIC
Tameka Foster-Raymond is a renowned stylist and mother of five boys; two of whom are singer Usher Raymond’s children. Tameka recently conducted an interview with UPTOWN magazine in which she talked about everything from motherhood to relationships.
Tameka’s work ethic.
“I was taught to work. Ironically, my father’s mother and my aunt were also retailers, and I worked at both places from about age 7. I learned tons about fashion and how to make money all by age 10. Usher and I met because I was one of the top stylists in the game. You don’t get to work with someone of his stature in music, especially back then, without being one of the best. And I still am hardworking.”
Usher and the custody battle.
He [Usher] is a man very accustomed to having his way. This has nothing to do with how I parent. Trust me, I never will have a desire to keep a man away from his kids. I am not June Cleaver or head of the PTA, but I know I am a good mother.”
On being a mother to her 21-year-old son Darrin.
“Because I had him at such a young age, he and I basically grew up together and we are extremely close. But I am very conscious not to be an overbearing mother.”
On love and relationships.
“I am dating. It’s refreshing. I have not been single in a while. I got divorced and married in the same year. It was a run-on relationship. But a lot of guys like to play games. I like a man that’s a boss. I am not the dominant one. But a lot of the ones with the right mind-set wear OshKosh overalls. And if they are not fly, I don’t like them. I don’t bring men around my children. They have never met an ‘Uncle Tony.’ The two that I did bring around, I married.”
Tameka is mom to Usher V (aka Cinco), 4, and Naviyd, 3, Kile, 10, Ryan,12, and Darin,21.

She rubs me the wrong way b/c she does things like kick her foot up to show off that she is wearing Christian Louboutin. Why do we need to know the brand of shoe? I mean how is showing off the bottoms of shoes displaying it’s design? It doesn’t. You only do that when you have no class and are more interest in brand than design.

She seems as though she was a mercenary opportunist who exploited Usher’s naivete at the time. She was already on the inside as an employee of his when they got together.
She comes across as a female predator. Of course I don’t know this as the truth but the history of their relationship points to this.

I think this lady is all about the dough. It’s funny how before this we hadn’t seen her other kids or heard anything about them in ages. But as soon as the custody issues with Usher flare up, and people started mentioning how you never see her other kids, and that she doesn’t have custody of them, here’s a spread with the entire happy family. I don’t buy it. I love how she made sure to have that foot up so we could all see what shoes she has on.

I didn’t realize her first son was so old, which now explains why we don’t see him a lot. He’s grown! I have seen the two other non-Usher kids numerous times. All her kids are cute.

I’m from oakland and I have family members who used to know her back in the day. They said she was a hot mess & a half! She started a lot of drama and lost a lot of friends and family because of her ways. Before i heard any stories about her, I knew she was bad news. But the children are gorgeous!

It’s crazy how some black woman hate on successful black women! I don’t know her so I can’t say if she’s a gold digger, mean, what ever. Ya’ll acting like Usher is some kind of choir boy. Success comes from making your way from your OWN money not the use of others. No one is hating on her. Usher is no choir boy, with his slow behind. I wouldn’t date Usher, no matter how much money he has & I wouldn’t want to be in Tameka’s shoes, even with her red bottoms.
Seeing a man you want, going after him, getting him & having back to back children with him doesn’t make you successful, it just means you have skills.

I knew she had a teenage son(the one now 21 darin) from her high school drug dealer boyf who was murdered; as well as the sons w ex Ryan Glover.
I do think she did this interview to curb public opinion bc she is saying usher is a drug user and not being a good parent so she should have full custody. Tameka She never showed all 5 of her sons and she has photoshoots in atlanta magazines, and national magazine essence.
also, she has always been tameka foster. She wasn’t Tameka foster-glover when she was married to ryan(which is during teh time she was dating usher)but 2yrs now after the divorce she is holding on to tameka foster raymond. hmmm. Usher shoulda listened to his mother. You dont have to be married to be a present active involved father.

Successful?! Please! If she was so successful then why she crying about her Saks account being closed or not getting X amount of dollars to pay for child care? If she was so dang “successful” then she would be able to truely hold her own w/o Usher, especially since they supposedly have joint custody.
