I’ve seen kids of ALL races color their hair at young ages. Mom and dad let them dye a piece of hair various colors. I’ve even seen a hipster couple whose hair was dreaded with a kid of about 6 who was sporting a rainbow mohawk. She’s a kid. Her parents don’t want to inhibit her creativity and who can blame them. Preventing the kid of a couple this dynamic from reaching her artistic potential would be a crime. She is a very talented little individual. If she wants purple hair, let her have it. Why should she keep brown hair simply because it’s what WE deem normal for her? I was considered a normal Black kid in high school, yet my very best friend had half her head shaved and dyed green. So what? She’s a beautiful little girl and believe it or not, the blonde/orange hair brings out the gorgeous green eyes she inherited from her mom! ;o)

LOL, I wore those same “school boy ” glasses in the 80′s- red ones…..I look back at pics and wonder at my chioce:) I had hoped this style would never return:)

  • Zgirl March 3, 2012 at 12:14 pm

This is so funny! Its interesting to see what Willow will do next…I love how bold she is and self confident. I liked her haircut-The new color is ok- she looks like an anime character. It will groww out, its just hair. Just because you like a look does nor dictate how you will act, i.e Amber Rose. It seems Willow is a fashionista with style way beyond her age and quite a bit of the AA public.
I lived in Europe for 6 years and it wouldnt be considered a big deal…..I dont care if my 2 boys dyed their hair….I just dont care for pircings-ears or body. And no tatoos til 18, if they must.So many more things are important in life….hair styles and colors are not.

  • Nicole February 29, 2012 at 9:30 am

This is a classic example of giving a child TOO much freedom to express themselves.

Im all about individuality.. but some things should remain off limits to children.

  • Natrually Me February 29, 2012 at 8:23 am

    Exactly!!!!

  • jtol88 February 28, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Erm, Willow… whats that??? I dont object to it, not my child, dont affect me, just that the blonde dont match her skin tone.

  • C L H February 27, 2012 at 3:29 pm

I have a 10 year old and she KNOWS a permanent color is NOT an option. Obviously her PARENT(S) gave her permission. Personally, I do not like the blonde on her because it does not match her skin tone. SOME African Americans can wear blonde and it looks good on them. I pray Willow is OK on the inside. It does make you wonder why she is so extreme. But as previously said, it’s WILLOW’s hair!!!

  • Lisa February 27, 2012 at 10:21 am

    Here, we call this “forced-ripe”

I’m so thankful that for the most part here we allow our children to remain children and act like children until they are ready to be grown.

Let’s hear it for parents leading the children and not the other way around!

  • Jetsetter February 27, 2012 at 9:20 am

I havn’t read all the above comments so I don’t know if what I’m going to say has already been said but Willow is to young to be making all these choices with her hair and outfits etc. When I was her age I had some say so in what I wanted to wear and do but for the most part my parents dressed me and had me looking presentably.I don’t know why Will/Jada are letting her do so much drastic stuff when she is simply to young for all this stuff.

  • NeonLove February 26, 2012 at 9:28 pm

Praying for her. I’m not upset about the hair. I’m just a little worried about her behavior and where it is headed to.

  • Mila February 26, 2012 at 8:56 pm

IT’S JUST HAIR!!!!!!! that is all…

  • gianna February 26, 2012 at 8:24 pm

I know that people can do watever they wanna do with their kids but this is a little too much….i just hope she turns out alright later on and becomes a girl again.

  • yep February 26, 2012 at 6:55 pm

yep boundaries..because the color of ones hair totally dictates their personality and moral values…give me a break ..ague about hair color with your child and leave other people’s children alone alone

  • Lilee February 26, 2012 at 6:07 pm

I think Willow is trying to copy Amber Rose, now. When Willow first cut her hair, she said she was really into Rihanna, so now that she has shaved blonde hair, perhaps she likes Amber Rose a lot.

  • Sherley February 26, 2012 at 2:19 pm

I pray ALL the people on this blog screaming bloody murder has children & their child(ren) is/are PERFECT. This truly doesn’t make any sense over a hair color. SMFH!

    • Erica February 26, 2012 at 2:25 pm

Awww hey girl! I haven’t seen you post in awhile. Or maybe I’ve been way too MIA. I agree!

      • Sherley February 26, 2012 at 6:47 pm

I’m here. It’s good to take a break from BCK at times. Welcome back.

        • Pisces February 26, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Agree, Sherley about break times from BCK. Especially with comments like from the state of LOUSY-ana.

    • Sherley February 26, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Lastly it’s sight. Guess the Lou isn’t known for having intelligent yellow boned girls. Focus on you & not an 11 year old who isn’t your child. Dimwit!

    • Misuderstood February 26, 2012 at 6:46 pm

Kyla Brooke girl please ur entire state is just getting back on it’s feet and ur talking about getting at somebody if they come there! Yeah right u’ll probably be the first to run GO TAKE A SEAT WAYYYYYYYY IN THE BACK!

      • Misunderstood February 26, 2012 at 7:44 pm

I’m so far from uneduacted! Ur entire state was affected by a catastrophe and the personal impact it had on New Orleans and its conjoining city was enough! So ur the ignorant one sweetie :)

    • Trisha February 27, 2012 at 9:50 am

Thank you!!! I have a feeling at least 2 people who are speaking negative had a relaxer at 11 or has a daughter that has a relaxer in their hair

  • Erica February 26, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Only Ms Willow can get these many comments lol! Her and Blue Ivy. Winning ! Hahaha

    • universitychick February 26, 2012 at 1:31 pm

That just means they love attention.

    • Brenda February 26, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Yeah Winning!!! Uhhhh Not. All publicity is not good publicity, despite what a lot of people think. Most people think she’s too much for the moment, which does not work in her favor. And yes, public opinion does matter.

      • Erica February 26, 2012 at 2:15 pm

Well guess what? Public opinion doesn’t matter to this child . It doesn’t matter what she does .. She will always be a topic of discussion. Shaved her sides and got a Mohawk.. Hundreds of comments.. Shaved her head and dyed it same . Honestly this little girl or her parents could give two rats what the “public opinion” is . The public shouldn’t even care it’s not their child.

        • CeeJayGee411 February 26, 2012 at 2:59 pm

@Erica, I second that, cut the lil mama some slack people, if her parents are allowing her to do what she wants. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but its not nice to hate. Different strokes for different folkes, not everyone is going to agree on certain things, it would be such a boring world if we did. Respect, appreciate, accept, and learn. The beauty of Diversity.

        • universitychick February 26, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Sweetie they very much care what the public thinks. Willow is trying to have a CAREER, which means she will have to pull stunts like this to get an album release date.

  • Erica February 26, 2012 at 9:47 am

Personally I wouldn’t dye my 11 year old hair. But different parents are different in how they let their children express themselves. Esp in Hollyweird. Lol I mean Angie with Shiloh.. Gwen with her boys and nails polish and the dye.. Courtney letting her daughter dye her hair at 7.. And Will and Jada. But how do you know she doesn’t have guidance because she dyed her hair? I remember bet saying Jada said you can do what you want with your hair but don’t I don’t want you dying it. She obviously had to have permission. Even with her Mohawk.. Didn’t Jada say that they had like a family meeting with Will first?? People are different in how they raise their kids. But it doesn’t mean she’s going to be on drugs or be the next Lohan. Unless you see in the future ..:) I’m sure she didn’t just go behind her parents back and did this which most of you .. Are insisgating. All in all stop judging their parenting not everyone raises their kids like you do or let them express themselves like you would . Worry about your own kids instea of predicting a child life you don’t even know . Unless you live in the Smith household that is !

  • shell12 February 26, 2012 at 9:34 am

OMG its just hair people relax…

  • doyouhoney! February 26, 2012 at 9:22 am

My 8 year old son has beautiful, neat and healthy locs since age 5 years old…of course you CAN wash them properly.
As a parent, you can allow your child to make healthy decisions with expressing their personality/individuality. You don’t know what method was used to lighten her hair (I doubt if her parent allowed dangerous chemicals)….she looks beautiful.

Stop being so judgemental….it’s hair after all (always changing & it grows back ;) .

  • nancy February 26, 2012 at 8:53 am

I feel sorry for Willow, she is growing up
to fast. she is missing being a 11 year-old.
    I feel sorry for her.

    • er February 26, 2012 at 8:59 am

no sweety…that is exactly what 11 year old do….i see a lot of them in my neighborhood with blue hair…i bet year 11 year old would love to have blue streaks in her hair

      • er February 26, 2012 at 6:07 pm

oh sure …the stars who do this are impoverish….and most black women are——…stereotyping…please too funny…how much money do you have on the bank?….you all got money?…..you live from hand to mouth….mortgage and other bills are killing you…..i live in a suburb in Philadelphia too… i also lived in a suburban area in new-york …and neighborhood doesn’t necessarily mean the house close to yours…..just didn’t want to be specific…neighborhood could be a broad term you know….i see …parents allow their kids to dye their hair…blue or what ever color streaks for the summer vacation and take it off when school begins

      • Sherley February 26, 2012 at 6:54 pm

Nice suburb in Lou? LMAO….in your dreams. I was in Lou after Katrina to see the Saints play in their new stadium. I took a tour of the state. You must live in the stadium, because all the niceness of Lou was taken by Katrina. You wish a lesbian would throw you a nickle when she stopped by.

  • om my February 26, 2012 at 8:22 am

what if willow started growing dread locks …would that be ok?

willow my girl if you can read this…please color your head black white and blue next week

    • connie1 February 26, 2012 at 8:25 am

YES THAT WOULD BE OK. WHAT IS WRONG WITH DREADS? THEY ARE A NATURAL HAIR STYLE. IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH DREADS THEN YOU MUST THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH PUTTING A RELAXER (WHICH HAS HARMFUL CHEMICALS) IN YOUR HAIR.

      • om my February 26, 2012 at 8:36 am

so it is OK to pierce a baby’s ears…it is OK to have dreadlocks in a 3 and 4 year old’s hair…

it is OK to put micro braids(artificial) in little girls hair

it is OK to to perm their hair…
it’s OK to grow little boys hair out and braid their hair but it’s not OK to bleach their hair?…

who makes these rules?…i have family members who were born with blonde hair…what is wrong with having blonde hair?

this was my previous post…..well i think most of the dread locks i see on kids are horrible looking plus ;you can’t wash the hair properly…..i would prefer to color my child’s hair than grow these nasty looking locks in their head

        • connie1 February 27, 2012 at 9:22 pm

YOU CAN WASH DREADS PROPERLY BECAUSE IT IS NATURAL HAIR. DUH! YOU MAKE NO SENSE!

        • Lia March 7, 2012 at 11:28 pm

A lot of people lock their hair because their faith. My mother never pierced my ears nor will I pierce my child’s ears. I don’t believe in perms. And there’s nothing wrong with mothers braiding their son’s hair. You’re so ignorant. What are they teaching you in that church that makes you so ignorant?

      • om my February 26, 2012 at 8:47 am

so if she were to achieve the blonde color though natural means then i guess it would be ok…is that what you are saying?……you people are too funny

ok this is my last comment i swear

        • om my February 26, 2012 at 8:55 am

ok i just looked it up…she could lighten her hair by using lemon juice and vinegar….all natural and she could use henna to dye it red…i think henna is natural also…

ok i’ll be back at 1….going to get ready to go t church

          • Marisol February 26, 2012 at 1:27 pm

Lemon juice does not lighten your hair that much if at all, especially if you already have dark brown hair.

        • connie1 February 27, 2012 at 9:24 pm

OM MY… ITS SAD THAT YOU THINK DREADS ARE NASTY. I HAVE NATURAL HAIR AND I WASH IT ALL THE TIME. MY LITTLE COUSIN HAS DREADS AND THEY ARE VERY NEAT AND CLEAN. YOU MUST NOT BE AFRICAN AMERICAN IF YOU THINK DREADS ARE NASTY. IF YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. NATURAL HAIR IS WHAT GOD GAVE YOU. DREADS ARE NATURAL!

  • huh February 26, 2012 at 7:29 am

A lot of good points and different opinions have been voiced upthread. My two cents is this, it really comes down to the parents. If Willow does go to school (her parents developed/$$ her school), she is a distraction!
I work in a school. Even five year olds come in the door with these hair and clothing distractions. When a parent allows their child to go to school a certain way, it can cause someone else’s child to lose focus. Kids I know do talk about Willow and what she wears or does, she is actually a role model to some. I have already seen an eight year old with this color and it caused a DISTRACTION on its debut.

  • germanwom25 February 26, 2012 at 6:49 am

It just looks horrible and the parents of this girl should come back in the role of a parent. This superstar children will end up like all others before when the parents don´t give them principles (now).

    • om my February 26, 2012 at 8:18 am

Paticularly with your last two sentences, you show that you’re missing the point…

        • Nick February 27, 2012 at 9:40 pm

          Particularly*

        • Baby March 3, 2012 at 1:23 am

exactly I didn’t see the point she was trying to make….SMH!!

        • Baby March 3, 2012 at 1:26 am

Horrible!!! I just don’t get it, this little 11 year old child. She isn’t 16 or 17. Will, Jada, it’s ok to tell your kids no some times. Yeah they maybe mad at you but trust me they will get over it. I Promise!!

    • wyb February 28, 2012 at 11:41 am

I blame Beyonce and Mary J. Ever since they started with these ridiculous blonde wigs black people think they can wear blonde hair. It looks fake on them SO you know it’s not going to look good on anyone else. The only one who looks good blonde is MARIAH. Everyone else needs to stop, abruptly, for real. PS: The hair in this picture is not blonde. It’s ORANGE. When black people dye their hair blonde it comes out orange. That should tell you something! But you know, you can’t tell some of us nothing. Especially if we are knee deep in our delusion.

      • PlainMean February 28, 2012 at 12:03 pm

You blame Beyonce and Mary J. Blige?!?! o_O Smh. Lol the things people say!
