MAGIC JOHNSON AND HIS PREMIERE PALS
(L-R) Elisa Johnson,16, Andre Johnson, Cookie Johnson and Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson attend the Los Angeles premiere of ESPN Films Documentary ‘The Announcement’ held on March 6, 2012 in Los Angeles, California:
More than two decades ago, Earvin “Magic” Johnson announced the unthinkable and his fans and the world had to re-think what they thought about a disease called AIDS.
“I was a guy that could shoulder HIV and AIDS,” Johnson said. “A lot of guys couldn’t have gone public, and then get involved in the HIV and AIDS fight the way that I have.”
Magic is still the warrior fighting the fight 20 years later, and a new documentary chronicling the shocking news was screened Tuesday for Los Angeles-area high schools. (Read More)
The documentary, “The Announcement,” will air March 11 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN.

What a nice looking family. Where the other son and the grand kids?
Where’s his son Earvin Johnson III? I’d love to see a pic of him also. Isn’t his son, Andre by someone else? Nevertheless, nice family pic.
He lived a long time with A.I.D.S.
he’s got HIV, the AIDS hasn’t developed yet. Just as long as he continues to take care of himself (eat well, exercise, take ARVs if need be) then he could survive as long as an HIV negative person.
beautiful family
I commend Magic for all that he’s done and I wish him continued success in finding a cure for this deadly disease! Now Cookie I have much respect for cause I would have left him where he stood!
I’d be on an episode of Snapped and Magic wouldn’t be here today! Apparently he has the right wife! Lol. I love this family.
I think Cookie looked at the situation and saw that she would end up losing more if she left Magic. Cookie chose to preserve her family rather than destroy it by divorce. This option is not for everyone as sometimes divorce is the best option. Magic and Cookie have a beautiful family. And I’m happy that Magic and Cookie have prospered and given back so much to the community at large…
He jeopardized her life…i would have left too. No amount of money or man would have convinced me otherwise. He was careless and it could have took her life and her unborn child at the time.
