SOLANGE’S MOTHER’S DAY
Solange Knowles spent her Mother’s Day on a biking trip with her 7-year-old son Julez. The pair rode through various parts of New York City and enjoyed the beauty of the day.
Solange was absolutely touched by her son’s Mother’s Day present deeming it the “Best mothers day gift EVER!” While other children were out trying to find gifts for their mothers, Julez wrote a thoughtful letter to his mom that highlighted Solange’s many good traits as a parent. According to Julez Knowles’ ability to “cook food, put [him] in a good school, [and] make [him] feel safe” are what makes her mothering great.
In addition to celebrating with her son, Knowles shared her Mother’s Day with mother Tina and sister Beyonce. Tina was happy to spend her special day with her daughters telling Us Weekly, “[We're] all going to be together. We’re excited because it’s Beyonce’s first Mother’s Day. I’m hoping to cook! I want to cook my traditional soul food and maybe gumbo. That’s my favorite dish!”

Tina was specifically asked by reporters to comment on how Beyonce was celebrating Mothers day. Nobody was asking about Solange and her first Mother’s Day in 2005. I’ve seen Tina try to include Solange in questions about Beyonce and it’ll get overlooked because “nobody cares”. In a recent interview, reporter dude cut her off mid sentence to ask yet another question about Beyonce and her baby.
I like Solange, find her talented, and interesting, but she is not as famous as her sister and is still looked at as “lil sis to superstar” in the mainstream media. And it’s more about the media’s obsession with “Beyonce” than Tina playing favorites (they way some of you love to make it seem). Even in Solange’s interviews, she is asked about Beyonce and how it feels to be her sister, not the other way around. They do the same thing to Kelly, Michelle, and Letoya in their interviews and in comparison to Solange, they’ve actually sold lots of records and won Grammys as part of a very successful group. When Tina goes out with Solange, the pics barely get coverage. She goes out with Beyonce and it’s everywhere…just look at the MET coverage, I thought Solange looked better than Beyonce and yet all the media wanted to talk about was Beyonce. Solange and her gorgeous dress barely got any mainstream coverage outside of a few urban blogs. It just is what it is.

Shade where? There was shade right there: “Beysus”… But no, I think Tina loves her girls the same; however, she’s more likely to get Beyonce questions than Solange questions… That’s too common sensical though.
Not throwing shade at Beyonce, saying I’m so sick of people acting like she’s the only Knowles female that exists. Tina shouldn’t have to throw Solange into a conversation. She has 2 daughters, not one is better than the other. I’m glad Solange isn’t allowing them to unshine your shining light.
