THE SMITHS: ‘MADAGASCAR 3′ PREMIERE
Jada Pinkett-Smith was accompanied by her husband Will Smith and daughter Willow,11, to the Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted premiere today (June 7, 2012) in New York City. Jada voices the role of Gloria the hippo in the animated film.
The actress was recently asked what she finds intriguing about animation and she responded, “I think what I like most about children’s movies are how sophisticated the themes are, and at the same time how unsophisticated the themes are (laughs). It gives a child an opportunity, especially with animation, to exercise imagination. When you open a child’s mind in that way, there are lots of information, or things that a child can absorb unconsciously. That’s one of my favorite aspects of animation, of how sophisticated the relationships are and can be. To also kind of broaden emotional intelligence in children, which I think is most important. That’s my favorite aspect. ”
Madagascar 3 opens in theaters nationwide Friday, June 8th

The drugs, smoking and partying, Oh that’s coming and Will and Jada will be OK with it, because in Jada’s words “Rules don’t work”.

I have to say something…..I think allowing Willow to express herself creatively will do wonder for her self-esteem and growth. I think, and please note, this is just my two cents, but in the black community there is too much judgment which causes us not to express ourselves freely due to fear of how one will be judged. That fear has crippled many of us as a people, which is why some are at a loss and or still trying to find themselves and determine what their mark in life is and it either stunts or slows down our growth. This is one of the main problems why not enough of us are not financially well off or happy in life with our purpose.
Now this is not to say, we must let everyone just do anything no that is not what I am saying. Willow for example, the only thing that she is doing is expressing herself through her style of dress. Now is she dressing provocatively? No! Is she dressing well beyond her years? No! Is she out on the street doing drugs, smoking, partying, running away from home, and the list goes on? NO! Well then, where is the harm in how she chooses to dress and her parents allowing her that freedom?
As long as there is no bad or disruptive behavior and the child is clearly happy and at peace, then by all means, let our children BE!

Willow is taller than her mama, & Jada has on heels lol…Willow is dressed properly for the cartoon premier. look at chris rock & family, they aren’t dressed to the T. Yes, it doesn’t match but its her personal taste in clothing.
Ok I get that Willow is expressing herself, get own style,etc…, but there us a time and place for everything! Her parents are dressed for the red carpet, what happened to her dress up clothes!?!
Even my daughter who is a year older than Willow thinks her clothes are strange. I mean I get that she is a child of celebrities and she also has her thing going on, but for Chrisake…this is ridiculous!
Love the Smith family…yeah , Willow does wear odd outfits..but she’s only 11yrs old (hint: she’s just a child) let’s just take a deep breath and relax , no need to say harsh comments about her outfits…cause we’ve seen just about what she likes to wear & at least she’s always covered up. :O)
Lol Misunderstood I’m wondering the same damn thing. I know Willow is unique blah, blah blah, but this is a ridiculous outfit…she hasn’t worn anything this outrageous in a while.

No Jaden? Aww.. Lol.. I like that Willow is allowed to express herself . It’s going to help mild her into a very strong woman down the line.. But Lawd!! That child will cringe at her outfits when she is older . Lol. Jada makes her look like a giant .. Even if she has those Creepers on.. Cute fam.
