TV WATCH: DISNEY’S LET IT SHINE PREMIERES TONIGHT
Premiering tonight at 8p/7c, Disney Channel’s Original Movie LET IT SHINE is sure to please the entire family.
LET IT SHINE stars Tyler James Williams (Cyrus DeBarge), Coco Jones (Roxanne “Roxie” Andrews), and Trevor Jackson (Kris McDuffy). In the film, Cyrus is a shy musician who is devoted to his music. He writes a song dedicated to his long-time crush and up-and-coming star, Roxie. When he enters that song into a contest that Roxie’s record label is holding, he also sends a photo of him and his best friend Kris. This leads to a big misunderstanding in which Kris is mistaken for Cyrus and takes credit for his song. As a result, Cyrus idly stands by and watches as his best friend receives all of the accolades and begins to grab the heart of his crush.
Cyrus must break free of his shyness and realize his true potential and self-worth to not only get the credit that he deserves, but also convince his father, who is a preacher, that positivity can come in the form of hip-hop.
The movie also stars Brandon Mychal Smith (“So Random!”) as Lord of Da Bling; Nicole Sullivan (“MADtv”) as Roxie’s music manager Lyla; Courtney B. Vance (“FlashForward”) as Cyrus’ preacher father; Jacob DeBarge, and Dawnn Lewis (“A Different World”) as Cyrus’ mother, Gail.
The movie features an outstanding soundtrack (available for purchase on Itunes that boasts 12 original songs by acclaimed songwriters, producers, and musicians Rock Mafia, Toby Gad, David Banner, Antonina Armato, David Banner, and Andy Dodd.

Now this was a good movie!!! Loved it
Just set the DVR. I grew watching all the Disney original movies but haven’t watched one or been excited for one in soooo long. Can’t wait. Loved Tyler on Everybody Hates Chris and look forward to seeing what everyone else will bring.
