CONNIE AND EYOB’S LAX ARRIVAL

Actress Connie Britton and son Eyob were spotted arriving at LAX in Los Angeles, California on June 19th, 2012.

Britton recently gave insight into her 3 year process of adopting baby Eyob who is originally from Ethiopia. “Many people think you go and pick out your baby like you go shopping,” said Connie.

“[Eyob and I] chose each other. I think I’ve always known I was going to be a mother. It took me about a year to do all the paperwork for the adoption then I was on a waiting list for two years, just waiting to get a referral. One day I got a call from [the adoption agency] and they said ‘We have a referral for you,’ and then they emailed the picture of [Eyob]. It was sot of an indescribable thing because in that moment I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s my son,’” explained the actress.

Baby Eyob is Connie’s first child.

He reminds me of a male version of Zahara when she was a baby.

Love it! I don’t care what color the skin, adoption takes dedication.

  • lovely June 21, 2012 at 3:46 pm

finally a mommy without high heels on! i dont know why everyone in hollywood has to wear stilettos when pregnant or when they have a little baby! you are suppose to be responsible and protective… leave the cuteness to the babies for a least a little bit! ;-) and eyob is so cute. so proud she chose to keep his ethiopian name. she talked about him on theconversation.tv

I’ve wanted to adopt since I was a child. The costs are scary, you really have to do your research and get an attorney. Adopting domestically is cheaper but does have its cons.

  • Khai June 21, 2012 at 9:15 am

I say why not? If someone can provide a loving home and a better life for any child, who cares what color either are? God doesn’t see color. Only we see color!

  • Karen June 21, 2012 at 6:17 am

Black women took care of white babies for centuries now white women are just returning the favor.

    • KekeB June 21, 2012 at 8:37 am

    • Sian June 21, 2012 at 3:55 am

Yep and long may it continue i say. So when all these black kids grow up they inherit all that white money.

      • Misunderstood June 20, 2012 at 9:28 pm

REALLY I’m nieve never knew that!

    • Sherley June 20, 2012 at 10:47 pm

I heard it can cost upwards to $15k and more. It’s less expensive if you choose a special needs child. The cost is causing my hesitation. The waiting period is just as bad.

      • soapbox June 21, 2012 at 5:29 am

mz sherley, im a long time bck reader, but i cant recall if uve ever mentioned how far uve gone in the process. im an adoptive parent of a special needs child. in my state/situation, special needs ranged from minor things most wouldnt catergorize as spec needs to more severe needs. my baby was catergorized spec needs for many reasons. my state also assisted w/fees which were minimal, my wait was shorter than a pregnancy. there are waiting children in most states. although i went through the process several years ago, ive kept up on the changes in my state because this is my soapbox topic. i urge anyone interested to investigate through their state (or others, laws vary). it might not have to be expensive, severe needs only,or a long wait.

Hey soapbox, I am about 6months into the process as of this month. The slow up is money. I’m recenlty started thinking about getting my PHD so money is very tight. I want to continue but each time I contact the agency, it seems I need to pony up more money. I’m not giving up though. I’ve seriously considered spec needs child since my son is, however, in my state (NY), the ones the agency shows me either require more work than I anticipated or they are ‘unsure’ what spec needs are. Whatever that means. By the time I get the child, my son will be 18..sheesh. But I’m not going to give up.

Good to know your not going to give up, hang in there!
Also, little side note, bck put me in moderation responding to you. But, it’s all good. Your insights and comments are always appreciated by this reader.

Thank you soapbox :) . I’ve been at this adoption thing since my son was 8. Financial reason caused me to back off. I tried again when he was 10 but I began dating this guy who was not too fond of the whole adoption thing as he didn’t have any kids & wanted us to have kids. I put it aside thinking I’ll convince him later & 4yrs later we broke up. I’m back at it again & will stay this time. Only bad thing is I don’t get the money back that I spent, but I figured some of it went to the orphanges..at least I hope it did.

    • Trisha June 20, 2012 at 10:50 pm

A good couple thousand. That’s why i don’t get why people say white people are adopting these black babies as a fad. Spending thousands of dollars for a 18 yr commitment for a “fad?” Nope, true love

      He’s so cute, getting big.

    • Daniella June 21, 2012 at 8:35 pm

You always have to pay something to adopt, but the price really depends on the case & method of adoption. I have 11 adopted cousins: 6 adopted domestically & 5 adopted internationally. The domestic adoptions from the foster care system usually only cost between $500 to $1000 (each case was different) while a single private domestic adoption cost my aunt & uncle well over $5000.

All 5 of my family’s international adoptions exceeded $6000, so that’s definitely the priciest route to go most of the time. But no biological relations can come back for the child & that can be worth that extra money to some parents. And you don’t have to worry about the birth mother changing her mind.

      • Misunderstood June 21, 2012 at 10:28 pm

Thanks everyone I’ve been considering adopting a baby! So I’m just trying to figure some things out!

        • Sherley June 22, 2012 at 6:46 pm

Nice misundersod! We could go through it together..just get your pocketbook ready. :) . Go for Haiti..they have very beautiful children waiting.

  • PlainMean June 20, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Ethiopians have a very distinctive look. I’m glad he has a home.

    • Connie1 June 22, 2012 at 10:48 pm

YES I LOVE EAST AFRICAN LOOKS. THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL DARK SKIN AND SOFT CURLY HAIR. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND GORGEOUS! I WANT MY KIDS TO LOOK LIKE THAT.

  • LaTanya June 20, 2012 at 8:44 pm

    Cute little chocolate drop!

  • Sherley June 20, 2012 at 8:42 pm

He does slightly resemble Sahara. At least he doesn’t look scared.

  • jsayinit June 20, 2012 at 8:40 pm

He’s still small enough to call pretty, even though he’s a boy, with his Zahara looking self.
