EXCLUSIVE: BCK CHATS WITH THE OMG GIRLZ
The OMG Girlz -Beauty, Star, and Baby Doll-are taking the music industry by storm with their mantra of female empowerment and fun trend-setting style. The girls’ first video “Gucci This (Gucci That)” was an instant success and helped pave the way for the groups’ increasing fame and success and the ladies are still wowing crowds with their live performances and new music.
The girls recently premiered new video “Where the Boys At?” and are getting ready for the BET Awards and the Essence Music Festival.
Star, Beauty, and Baby Doll took time out of their packed schedules of performances, appearances, and school to talk exclusively with Blackcelebkids.com[BCK] about their upcoming debut album, their fun style, and much more. Check out the exclusive interview below:
BCK: What are your ages?
Beauty: 15, but I’ll be 16 August 2nd
Star: 16
Baby Doll: 17
BCK: What is it like working with one another?
Beauty: Actually, we love it. We all really really good friends. Me and Star grew up together. We’ve known each other since birth and we met Baby Doll about 2 years ago and we all kinda just click. It feels like we’ve known her our whole lives. We love being around each other. Even when we’re not on tour or don’t have a show or aren’t working. I’m still calling them like, ‘Can ya’ll come get me so we can go hang out’ or their call me like ‘What are you doing today.’ We’re always hanging out.
BCK: I’m sure it makes it a lot easier that you all are really good friends and it’s not just a show and really genuinely love each other. Are you guys home schooled?
Baby Doll: We are home schooled and we do that all together. Star and Beauty are with a tutor and they work with her. I, myself, do an online school. So, we’re all together when we do it. It’s on our own time so we can do homework together.
BCK: If you all weren’t singing, what would you want to be doing?
Star: I don’t really know because I’ve always loved to sing and this is always what I’ve wanted to do. I know that Beauty, if she wasn’t singing, she would like to become a lawyer and going to school for that. Baby Doll would like to be a pediatrician if she wasn’t doing this, but we’d still be in regular school if we weren’t doing this now since we’re so young.
Baby Doll: We wouldn’t mind still trying to work behind the scenes or maybe something in the medical field. That would be cool.
BCK: Your video “Where the Boys At?” looks like a lot of fun. How was it having T.I. in the video? Do you think he would really react the way he did in the video in a real life situation?
Beauty: I think it would actually be worse if it was a real life situation. But it was cool having him on set and having him there. He’s always there when we do videos, photo shoots and things like that so he’s really, really supportive and it’s kinda cool to have him there. He was telling us like, you know on your part you should do this or you should do that or don’t do that, do this instead or try this. So, it was always cool to have him there kinda critiquing us and just kind of working with us. So it was really fun.
BCK: I know your debut album “Officially Miss Guided” comes out on October 2nd, right? Are you guys super excited about that?
Girls: SUPER EXCITED!!
BCK: Any notable featured artists?
Star: For right now, we aren’t really saying because we’re still picking and choosing songs so we’re not sure who’s gonna be on it and who’s not. We have a couple songs with a couple people.
BCK: If your album had a message for your fans to take away from your album, what do you think it would be?
Baby Doll: Just like to have fun in life and be yourself and be independent. You are young teenagers so you’re gonna like boys, but you know, also keep yourself up and be more focused on you. Don’t let the boys take over your whole life, you know. We’re growing as we make more songs. We’re becoming more mature but staying in our age range and not trying to grow up too fast. Just having fun doing what we love to do and that we’re serious about what we’re doing.
BCK: You all are going to be performing at the BET Pre Show?
Girls: YEAH!!
BCK: Have any of you ever been to the BET Awards before?
Baby Doll: Star and Beauty have, but myself, this will be my first year. So, I’m excited. They told me how it is and stuff but I can’t wait to go with them and experience it. You know, experience what’s here and there and they can show me around and stuff. It’s going to be pretty cool and fun.
BCK: You guys are performing on the Essence Festival “New & Next” stage in July, right?
Baby Doll: YES!
Beauty: We’re really excited because all of us have always wanted to do the Essence Festival so to be able to do Essence and then the newest stage for young artists is a wonderful blessing.
BCK: How do you ladies feel about being trend-setters with your bright, fun colors, and inspiring the next big trend?
Star: We love being trend-setters. Before we go out of our hotel or anywhere, we all like to have our own style but still be in sync because people always look at us as a group when we’re out. We like for little girls, like on Twitter or when they come to our shows to say like, ‘My mom told me I can dye my hair purple or pink because she saw you with it.’ So young girls have a better advantage of getting their hair colored. You know parents are usually like, ‘Color your hair? What?’ But now they’re maybe like, ‘Oh ok. This is what’s in style. Young kids are doing it because I see the little OMG Girlz on TV so maybe my daughter can get it.” We like to help everybody get the opportunity to go a little crazy.
BCK: Do each of you have a favorite color?
Baby Doll: My favorite color is blue
Star: My favorite color is red.
Beauty: My favorite color is pink.
BCK: How do you guys deal with negative comments?
Beauty: All of us just ignore it. You know, we feel like, if you ignore all of the negative things in your life, it brings more positive things. Our fans are always telling us how much they love our hair and how much they love our colors and our style and it’s so much love that the hate just seems obsolete. Like we don’t even see it. We just ignore it and keep going on and keep pleasing our fans. They love the color and they love our style so we’re going to keep doing what they love.
BCK: Where can our readers find you? Facebook, Twitter? You have an official website as well?
Baby Doll: Everywhere! We have a group Twitter. It’s @the real OMG Girlz with a “z” and follow our personal pages. Mine is @babydoll_omg
Star: Mine is @star_omg
Beauty: And mine is @beauty_omg
Baby Doll: Also, check out our website. It’s www.omggirlz.com and that will link you to our Facebook and our tweets and videos and updates about us.

Great interview. They seem like level headed teens just trying to have fun. Love all their videos/songs so far!
I’ve seen a recent interview of them. They are level-headed young girls with ambitions. I wish them great success. I hope they also can stay together (which is an uncommon trend in girl groups).
