VIDEO: QUVENZHANE TALKS ACTING FOR THE FIRST TIME
ExtraTV’s Kit Bowen recently had a chance to sit down with 2012 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize film winner “Beasts of the Southern Wild” stars Quvenzhane Wallis (Hushpuppy) and Dwight Henry (Hushpuppy’s father) to talk about the the film and their home of Louisiana.
The two stars have more than just Louisiana in common. They are both first-time actors. Director Benh Zeitlin wanted to make sure that he had true Louisiana natives in the starring roles.
In “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” Hushpuppy goes on a dangerous journey to find her long-lost mother and save her dying father from a terrible storm that threatens to tear apart her isolated Louisiana home and unleash pre-historic “beasts” named aurochs.
Meanwhile, the young star celebrated the release of her new movie “Beasts of the Southern Wild” at the Fox Searchlight Pictures premiere in her home state and the home state of the movie, Louisiana on June 25th.
Quvenzhane had a great time at the New Orleans, Louisiana premiere. She danced and had fun with the cast.
The new movie, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” premieres on June 27th in New York and LA and will premiere in Atlanta on July 13th. To see the full list of city premieres, go to Beastsofthesouthernwild.com
