GABRIELLE DOUGLAS WINS U.S OLYMPIC TRIALS
Gabrielle Douglas, 16, recently became apart of the exclusive league of Olympic athletes that will represent the United States at this year’s games.
The young super gymnast competed and sealed the Olympic deal at the preliminary round this past weekend, finishing in second place behind Jordyn Wieber on the first day, with a 61.4000 ending score and coming in first place by the end of the trials.
Gabrielle has sacrificed a great deal to get the training that she needed to prepare for the Olympic games. She left behind her mother and 3 siblings in Virginia to move to Iowa and train 25 hours a week with Liang Chow.
Just as Gabrielle gets ready to take a sigh of relief, the next pressure will soon be under way. The team is headed to the London Games in 2 weeks to go for the gold, which hasn’t been won by the U.S. women’s team since the Atlanta 1996 games.
Good luck Gabrielle! The U.S. is rooting for all of you.

Hello There. I found your blog the usage of msn. This is an extremely smartly written article. I will make sure to bookmark it and come back to learn extra of your useful info. Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely comeback.
I saw the competition. When they walked out as a team I was smiling and shed a tear as if she were my own child. So proud of them all, no matter what race. Really proud of her and her family for the sacrifices they made to get her to the Olympics. Wonderful, wonderful….
Go Baby Girl
Shine on little sister, shine on!
So amazing. Congrats Gabrielle!
Go ahead girl! I hope she wins something with that major sacrifice she made. God bless her & that picture above..simply wonderful.
Congrats to her.
Go Gabby! she’s definitely my fave and the one to beat. she did so good at the trials. i hope team USA comes home with the team gold and one of our girls wins the all-around gold.
on a related note, another african american gymnast, Elizabeth Price, was selected as an alternate. so who knows, she may get a chance to shine in London. she actually placed in the top 5 at the Olympic Trials, but the selection committee can pick and choose who they want on the team, and it’s mainly based on track record, not just standings at the Olympic Trials. but i’m glad she’s going in some form.
I am so rooting for her.I saw her performance and she is very talented.
She did an excellent job! Very poised under pressure, which will help her immensely against the Chinese & Russian women’s teams. The U.S. team’s got a really good shot at the gold medal again. And the men’s team is looking pretty good too.
I’ll definitely follow her this summer. In related news I work out at the gym where the 96 ATL Olympics was held.
Yeah she did win FIRST place – Jordyn Weiber was in 1st place day one but Gabby outbeat her on day 2.
She did a great job. However, she did come in first place, beating out Jordyn Weiber by 1/10 of a point. Awesome abilities!
I was under the impression that she won first place too. Congrats to her. Even though I’m not American I will be rooting for this young lady.
So happy for her. Good luck!
That mid-air shot… all I can say is, WOW!
I’m sooooo proud of her! I watched this the other day. The balance beam kind of threw her off, but originally she was in first place. I think she’s better than Jordyn Wieber and will be the one on the team to win gold
YOU! go girl i love this photo worth a MILLION WORDS!
