MICHELLE OBAMA TALKS ABOUT RAISING WELL-ROUNDED KIDS

While her husband is campaigning for a second term in office, First Lady Michelle Obama is advocating for healthy living. She recently sat down with Parenting magazine to talk about her kids and what it means to raise well-rounded children.

Although the Obamas encourage Sasha and Malia to strive for excellence in academics, they do not stop them from participating in extra curricular activities that include sports like basketball and soccer. “We set the expectation that sports are as important as homework and friends. It’s important to learn how to compete, to develop a skill…[how to lose]…and how to work as a team. I want them to learn how to sweat, how to win gracefully and lose with dignity,” says Michelle.

While confidence is key, First Lady Obama is not aiming to raise arrogant children. “Barack and I always tell [Sasha and Malia] that you can be smart, you can be beautiful, but if you don’t know how to treat people, if you don’t walk into a room and say hello, if you don’t say thank you, if you’re not looking out for the girl who’s sitting alone by herself…then who are you?”

BCK Says: What are your thoughts? How do you raise your kids to be well-rounded?

I wish every parent applied to guideline to their children.

    That ratchet rats comment…lol

Yeah, Michelle isn’t for those games. She will raise her children correctly.
Side note: Malia should consider modeling some point in her life (not as a career, but you know what I mean).

I LOVE my First Family & praise the way they are raising their daughters, but can someone please stop asking her the same questions over & over again. If it isn’t about helath, it’s about raising the girls..

I 100% agree. Michelle isn’t scared, she’ll truthfully answer your questions but reporters ask the same thing constantly. I wish they would mix it up.

I love Michelle Obama! I wish more women would follow her example while raising their children! Then maybe we will have more respectable adults instead of these ratchet rats running around being loud, cussin, and sleeping with anything that looks in their direction.

    Amen to that!
