SHELDEN WILLIAMS TALKS FATHERHOOD
Shelden Williams is a star on and off the court. On the court he plays his heart out for the Brooklyn ‘Nets,’ while off court he serves as daddy and playmate to 3-year-old daughter Lailaa.
“Being a father just changes you. Before we had a daughter, I would never carry my wife’s purse, but magically one day I was carrying Lailaa’s purse. I don’t know what happened. Now I’m the one playing dress up or tea party,” Shelden said to ESPN. “[We] like to play hide-and-seek on Skype, but she doesn’t really understand the concept and will hide behind the couch with her legs hanging out or pop out when I ask her to.”
Due to his and wife Candace Parker’s ambitious careers, Shelden is often forced to spend quality time with his daughter via Skype only. “I’m different than a lot of dads. I don’t see how these guys cannot be around their kids. They take it for granted how accessible their kids are. I see my child maybe half the year and I don’t take any moment for granted,” said Williams.
“He is a great father, very hands-on, and she is in love with him,” Parker says of Sheldon.
Lailaa is Candace and Shelden’s first child together.

Lailaa is a feminine version of her dad and while some may not think he’s handsome, Candace & Lailaa does .
I was told by the older women at my coming out party that handsome and .50 can’t even buy a cup of coffee so choose well in finding a mate. Physical looks don’t last forever.
Now I think Lailaa is a cute version of her father, kind of like Violet & Dream..look at that smile.
Looks only get you so far Oxford. You need humbleness, intelligence & common sense. Many handsome men only have their looks going for them & the women that wants it; usually puts up with low self esteem, cheating, man being unemployed more than he’s employed, put downs, etc., just to have a good looking man on their arm. Very sad.
Ms. Sherley, You hit it right on the head, that’s what I meant when I said that I was told that handsome + .50 can’t even buy a cuppa. To be careful and pick a mate for the right reasons in the future.
Physical looks are only here for a season, if looks is all a man has going for him then he has nothing, and the women who are all about the “looks” will only have “fools gold” in the end.
To those who keep hinting that Sheldon Williams is “très laid”, to Candace and Lailaa he is “très beau”.
Give this man his due. How many NBA players would knowingly incur a fine to spend time with their family? When Shelden went to Ekaterinburg, Russia to spend time with Candace & Lailaa he went knowing that the league was going to fine him. He went anyway because he was missing them and they were more important to him than money.
(People, Please don’t start about how horrible a player Shelden is, this post isn’t about his basketball prowess; which can’t be that bad since he did make it to the NBA; but about his love for his baby girl)
Lol…. It’s not that serious. He’s obviously happily married to a woman who finds him attractive, he has a healthy daughter, and seems like a good guy…. Not everyone will find him physically attractive. That’s life.
You didn’t get deleted but I would! And the baby is his twin. Seems like a good dad though, and that outweighs looks anytime.
Definitely Daddy’s baby! She looks just like him, such a cutie pie. That’s right Sheldon, don’t take any moment or time for granted with your baby. You never know if it will be your last.

Sheldon is by far one the great fathers yall show on here. I love the fact that he carries her lil purse a lot men wouldn’t even do that. Him and Candace make great parents I hope they will give lil miss Lailaa a brother or sister one day.
