LIFESTYLE: SOLANGE AND SON LIVE IT UP IN THEIR BROOKLYN HOME
Solange Knowles and son Julez,7, were photographed in their Brooklyn home for the latest issue of Elle magazine.
Solange moved to New York last fall to be closer to her family— sister Beyoncé and daughter Blue often stop by for family dinners and parties. The DJ, musician, and model loves to throw parties in her brownstone, which she shares with her video-director boyfriend, Alan Ferguson.
In her top-floor brownstone, the decor is just as eclectic as her wardrobe. “I had a moment when I looked at my closet and I was like, ‘Whoa, I really don’t have any basics,’” Knowles says. “And with my house, I wanted to find a balance of having great colors and patterns but also a really livable, warm, serene space.” So she chose neutral basics—a clean-lined blue sofa, all-white bedding, gallery-white walls—and accessorized them with Moroccan rugs (“We bought two when we were there because they’re gorgeous and super cheap!”), embroidered pillows, a neon orange Tom Dixon coatrack, and art found on trips to Marfa, Texas, and at one of Recession Art’s regular NYC exhibitions.~Elle, September 2012

I LOVE that she is unafraid to live outside the box that most people find themselves in.
No pictures of the boyfriend? I’m just curious as to who he is because she’s never with him when pictures are taken of her and Juelz.
Solange seems like a great mom! Her house matches her personality!
Wonder if she maintains a residence in Texas as well? Pretty white drapes…Julez and his little friends must nut play inside to much…no little hand prints all over. All that white!

she is just so much more interesting – and REAL – to me than her sister. she seems to know and very much like the place she has in the world with her son and that is all that is important to her. she doesn’t feel the need to be front and center to anyone! she seems like she would so easy to hang around.
Every person in this world has his own ‘light’. Stop make cross-comparisons of
people-to-people. (…and I hope that you find your own God-given light so that you may stop derading others).

i really love the colors and simplicity of her home. definitely has a warm feel to it. and i really like what she wore for the photoshoot. i’ve always been a fan of her style. she wears what she likes and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.

The pictures really didn’t show anything other than she and her son are happy… I really wish we could of seen the entire house it seems to be very nice.
Nice mother and son duo. From the pictures, the place looks nice. Love her ensemble with the purple shirt and green dress. She has grown up nicely. It feels good to be comfortable in your own skin and live your life on your own terms.

Didn’t think she had time to place down roots anywhere! Seems like she and Jules are constantly traveling the world. I too really love how Solange has grown into her own person. She really seems like good people.
