MICHAEL JAI WHITE AND HIS PREMIERE PALS
Actor Michael Jai White attends the premiere of ‘The Oogieloves in the Big Ballon Adventure’ with wife Courtenay Chatman, daughter Morgan, and a family friend. The premiere took place at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California on August 19, 2012.

Prior to marrying Courtenay in 2005, Michael was a single parent of two. He recently spoke with Ebony magazine about discovering a career in acting while trying to be the world’s greatest single dad. “I said, ‘Well, I have to put my dreams on hold.’ I immediately started training for the police force, figuring I would be a cop and earn extra money. I was two days away from joining the police academy when I was cast off-Broadway in To Kill a Mockingbird. It was my first professional acting role, and I felt that it was a sign. I’ve been acting ever since.”
Although he now shares parenting duties with his wife, Michael believes that his experiences as a single father has taught him much about struggle and conquering adversity. “I got to see what struggle really was, so I had to work hard to overcome it,” said the actor.’
White currently stars as ‘Marcus’ on Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse on TBS. In all, Michael and his wife, Dr. Courtenay White, have six children(one together and five from previous relationships). The couple welcomed their daughter Morgan on December 24, 2008.
