WILLOW STARTS SHOOTING ANNIE IN SPRING

Willow Smith, 11, will be teaming up with legendary rapper Jay-Z for a remake of the hit musical, Annie. Jay-Z will be writing the music for the movie which will include new music as well as some of the original music.

British actress, Emma Thompson, is set to write the film and the starring role especially for Willow to portray Annie. She is also thrilled about contributor Jay-Z, saying, “I’m writing a modern version of ”Annie” for Willow to play, which I’m so excited about because Jay-Z is going to do the music — oh my God. I’m so modern! So I am very thrilled about that.”

The modern day Annie remake will take place in New York and will be filled with new songs and some old “Annie” classics, such as “Tomorrow.”

Filming for the new movie is said to begin in the spring of next year.

In related Willow news, the young star has penned a letter to her favorite rapper. Although Tupac was never alive during Willow’s life, she still considers him her favorite Emcee. The letter, which was written a few years ago, reads:

“Dear Tupac, I know you are alive someplace. I think that my mommy really misses you. Can you please come back. Can you come back so me and my momy [sic] and me can be happy! I wish you were here… I really do! Love, Willow.”

I rather see a remake of Annie than Sparkle

The Sparkle remake was actually good :)

I like the old Annie. I don’t want to see willow play Annie. And the letter to those is odd.

I thought they pulled her out of that? I may see it if my son is interested.

  • Sorry August 23, 2012 at 1:34 pm

Sorry I will stick with the original. Why Hollywood always mess with the classics. I am really happy for her don’t get me wrong. I’m sure she will do a fantastic job with the movie. I am wondering if she is going to have the red hair as well. It wouldn’t be the same without the red hair.

Now I am thinking about buying the original.

I AM GLAD THEY ARE DOING A REMAKE WITH WILLOW BECAUSE I THINK SHE WILL DO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL ANNIE. IM GLAD HOLLYWOOD IS MAKING A REMAKE. IT WILL PROVE HOW MUCH BETTER WE ARE.

      • Solene August 24, 2012 at 9:03 am

“How much better we are”? Who is better than who? That statement is ridiculous.

I can’t wait to see the movie when it comes out as well…I’m going to support her in this role. I remember years ago there was a black girl who won the role of Annie in her hometown, and the white people were really upset about that. Good for you Willow…show them what your made of.

Love this unique and creative soul. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Good for her. Can’t wait to see the remake.
