QUVENZHANE SHARES SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT HER NAME AND MUCH MORE
Quvenzhane Wallis, also known by her nickname “Nazie,” recently sat down with film and book critic Kam Williams to disclose some fun facts about herself. The young actress, who was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana and currently attends Honduras Elementary School, is celebrating her 9th birthday today (August 28th)! Although she is becoming quite the little star herself, she is still a big fan of other actors. Her favorite actresses include China McClain, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus. Check out some of the other Q&A highlights below:
Kam Williams: What was it like seeing yourself on the big screen for the first time, after the film was finished?
Quvenzhane Wallis: I was like: “Wow! There is actually a bigger me, but I can handle it.” It was something you wouldn’t get used to, but I felt smaller, and my voice was smaller, too. So, there was like a bigger me with a smaller voice, and a smaller me with a big voice. It was something I would never have thought would happen that way.
KW: What type of name is Quvenzhané? I thought it was French, especially since you’re from Louisiana, where there are a lot of people with French ancestry.
QW: It’s Swahili.
KW: What does your name mean?
QW: My name means “fairy.”
KW: I think you’d remember it if you’d seen it. It’s really cool! What do you like to watch on TV?
QW: The Disney Channel.
KW: The Kerry Washington question: If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
QW: I would like to be a penguin and a leopard.
KW: Who is your hero?
QW: My mom.
As recently reported, the young “Beasts of the Southern Wild” actress has signed with ICM Partners (as told by Deadline.com) and will soon appear in the film ” Twelve Years a Slave.”
