SPIKE LEE AND FAMILY ATTEND FILM FESTIVAL
Director Spike Lee and his family attended the “Bad25″ Premiere And Jaeger Le Coultre Glory To The Filmmaker Award Ceremony during the 69th Venice Film Festival at the Palazzo del Cinema on August 31, 2012 in Venice, Italy.
Spike’s latest film, Red Hook Summer, is a film about African-American teenagers who overcome various obstacles to accomplish their dreams. Although he’s not usually into paying for film production, Lee wanted to make sure that the positive message about African-American teens got out. “I love those films by Rob Reiner about teenagers like Stand by Me. Those were great films about being teenagers, but there weren’t ever films about black teenagers like that and I asked myself why. I kept thinking where are those films that show black teenagers like my kids, James’s kids, and others’ kids who aren’t gangstas, thugs, or whatever,” said the director.
Satchel,17, and Jackson,15, are Spike and Tonya’s only children together.
