JILLIAN MICHAELS TALKS FAMILY WITH ‘REDBOOK’
Jillian Michaels made her impact on the ‘Biggest Loser’ by being the personal trainer who yelled a lot, but got stellar results in the end. While the yelling has toned down a bit since becoming a mom earlier this year, Jillian is still inspiring people with her stories about parenthood.
In a recent cover and interview with Redbook, Michaels alluded to being in a good place in life. “You can’t have it all, and you have to make some tough decisions. I used to think you could, but you can’t. I didn’t understand that something has to give. Now friends will go to Vegas for the weekend and we’re like, ‘Take pictures.’ When Lu looks at me and goes, ‘Mama, I love you!’ I go, ‘Fft. Who needs Vegas?’”
Jillian has gained five pounds since becoming mom to daughter Lukensia,2, and son Phoenix,4 months, but she’s okay with that. “I look at my body and I go: ‘five pounds heavier.’ But part of me really likes it. We talk about role models for [Lukensia], like Beyoncé, who has a more curvaceous figure. My taste has changed. I prefer that look. For now, I want to look a little softer,” said the fitness guru.
Although she works hard to protect her daughter from harm, Jillian is not going for overprotective mother of the year. “Kids are accident-prone; they’re going to tumble. As long as I know she’s not going to die or get badly hurt, it’s okay. We’d rather her be adventurous, and fall and get back up, than helicopter around her and make her feel fragile.”
Michaels adopted Lukensia, nicknamed “Lu,” in May of this year. She along with her brother Phoenix are Michaels and Heidi Rhoades’ only children.

That picture is too precious. Phoenix looks bigger than he is & loving Lu’s smile. Shouldn’t her wife join them in the picture? After all she is their mother or is it father as well.
