Thirteen-year-old actress Amandla Stenberg has been busy promoting the release of “Hunger Games” on DVD, raising awareness for the No Kid Hungry Campaign, and making appearances around the globe. She took a few minutes away to chat with Twist about her “Hunger Games” character Rue, upcoming work and more. Check out the highlights below:
On the hardest scene in “Hunger Games” to shoot:
Probably the death scene. Not the acting, but pretending to be dead. That was the hardest because I had to take really shallow breaths and we were in the middle of the woods in North Carolina. I could feel the bugs crawling up my arms and I couldn’t move and there was buzzing, so that was probably the hardest part.
On what fans need to know about “The Hunger Games”:
They need to know that we all became really close and that we are not our characters. I think it’ll be really fun for fans to see us joking around and becoming a family. That’ll be the best part.
On upcoming projects:
I have a couple of things I’m looking at, but I’m also working with a couple of charities. One is called No Kid Hungry. And it helps kids who don’t have enough to eat in America. Then another one called the Ubuntu Fund, which helps kids in South Africa and provides them with food and education and housing and all kinds of things.
