YARA SHAHIDI CHATS WITH JUSTINE MAGAZINE

Yara Shahidi sat down with Justine Magazine to talk about her many projects, who in the industry she’s most like to work with and more. Check out the highlights below:

On acting alongside brother Sayeed on television show” First Family”:

I loved having him with me. We actually played Samuel L. Jackson’s kids in Unthinkable, so I like having him on set with me. He’s hilarious, so I always have a great time with him. I don’t get nervous, but it’s really nice having him there.

On the difference between working on the films “Butter” and “Alex Cross”:

Butter was really funny. It was a more grown-up movie, so going from being in Imagine That to a movie like Butter was really cool. I had a really fun character [in Butter].

On who she most wants to work with:

Queen Latifah because I’ve seen a lot of her movies and she’s really funny. I want to work with Saoirse Ronan from The Lovely Bones as well.

On her favorite book:

I have quite a few.  I just read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith and Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson.  Right now I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
