KEKE WYATT MAINTAINS ABUSIVE-FREE ENVIRONMENT FOR HER AND CHILDREN

Keke Wyatt is determined to create an environment that is loving and free of abuse for her and husband Michael Ford’s six children. The singer recently spoke with Essence about her abusive past as a child and with ex-husband Rahmat Morton, telling the magazine that she is not willing to have a repeat of violent events.

“Everyone knows I have been in an abusive relationship, and my girls were in the middle of that mess. After that experience I’m very aware of not wanting to re-create an environment like that for my girls. They won’t go down that road,” said Wyatt. The singer went on to say, “It’s a process but hopefully they won’t go down the same road. What’s crazy is you go down a road and don’t even know that you’re going to end up going down that road. I did all I could to make sure my current husband Mike isn’t like that.”

Keke has partnered with Saving Our Daughters organization for their ‘YELL Confidence’ initiative, aimed at putting an end to violent relationships in which women are victims and providing support to those who have already endured such relationships. Her advice to women currently in abusive unions? “Either you leave or you stay and are miserable and continually put your life at risk. There are always options for you, just have faith. If he does things like punch a wall when he’s mad, or throws things…one day it might be you.”

I don’t believe that for one minute. As mean as she is too her husband Michael and the way she talks to him, I’m sure that home environment is abuse free NOT, because some verbal abuse is at least going on.

Good for KeKe. She and her chidlren need tranquility in their lives. I love her new single with Avant. :)

  • PrettyP October 31, 2012 at 9:35 am

Hmmm I thought it was self defense.

    • Pisces October 31, 2012 at 11:24 am

The judge apparently didn’t see it as self defense…she did time for the crime. She has the potential for violence herself.

      • Pisces October 31, 2012 at 11:30 am

        * correction: “propensity for violence”.

  • Pisces October 30, 2012 at 10:18 pm

Cute picture. The woman is a felon though. I can’t get past her having stabbed a man before. That’s just me and I don’t feel anyone has to share my opinion.

I wonder why on BCK there’s no talk about the devastation that hurricane Sandy has caused on the East Coast? BCK is based there I believe. It’s sad…so similar to Katrina and Japan’s tsunami. Prayers to the people suffering and I hope BCK staff and a lot of readers/writers on here are not affected.

Manhattan is under water Pisces. Been out of work two days now & off tomorrow as well. My parolees are partying right now. We are without power but are doing well. Thx for your concern.

      • Pisces October 30, 2012 at 11:07 pm

My heart goes out to you and everyone affected, Sherley. I am praying for the East Coast. when I saw a shark swimming by someone’s back porch it made me cry! How horrible. When something like this happens in places like New York and New Jersey, it makes me feel like it’s Armageddon (sp?) or apocalypse happening.

Love and prayers to you and yours, Sherley. Especially your precious son.

Here in San Francisco it’s crazy, too. People setting the City on fire just because of a baseball game. Our parolees on the loose, too.

XOXO Sherley and to all of our East Coast brothers and sisters.

        • Pisces October 30, 2012 at 11:31 pm

I guess the hurricane would be more crucial if celebrities who live in New York like Alicia Keys, Robert DeNiro, Diddy, or Jay-Z and his wife come out and say something.

I’m not calling out anybody but when it’s Haiti or Japan the celebs start getting busy giving money and allowing their images to support donations.

Where is Donald Trump, so far? He has buildings in New Jersey and New York.

        • Sherley October 31, 2012 at 9:04 am

Thank you Pisces. I do not have power, heat or hot water but do have a generator. It’s a mess but New Yorkers pull together when need be. My son thanks you for your kind words. San Fran is rioting over a ball game? Really? Some people are imbeciles.

      • Pisces October 31, 2012 at 12:28 am

Sherley, I am glad you still have power…you’re apparently able to use Wi-Fi or still have electricity.

I remember that Misunderstood is from New Jersey. I hope she is alright and I hope the best for her and those close to her..

        • Sherley October 31, 2012 at 9:25 am

FYI: the picture of the flooded street w/the shark floating in front of a porch is fake. Someone photo-shopped the shark in it. However, I have friends who have homes in the Jersey Shore & the flooding & damages are devastating.

          • Pisces October 31, 2012 at 11:27 am

Thanks for the info, Sherley. I saw the video of the shark swimming on the TODAY show and it was presented as legitimate. Glad it’s not real.

  • Shawn October 30, 2012 at 6:50 pm

If y’all call that woman a rapper ONE MORE TIME. Come on now BCK. Keke is a singer and she can’t just sing, the woman SANGS. How can you even get that mixed up?

  • K-Bug October 30, 2012 at 4:57 pm

I just love her and her voice!!!!

  • Surprise October 30, 2012 at 4:44 pm

    OMG.. he’s so cute..

  • Sherley October 30, 2012 at 4:33 pm

I’m trying to figure out why Keke being called a rapper seems to be the biggest concern on this post.

  • mia October 30, 2012 at 4:33 pm

Keke Wyatt is an amazing vocalist and a very strong woman. She is the model of strength and moving forward. She is very real and I can relate to her. She has been through quite a but in life but we all have a story to tell and the story is one that we all must understand must be told to help our generation coming from behind us. Through it all she keeps making beautiful music and keeps felling us REAL folk with life, love and happiness. She has a lovely family and a wonderful forethought that all will persevere through faith, hope and inspiration. I love her fiery personality because she does not back down from the word GO. That is why I know she will always be Keke Wyatt – the one that will touch the hearts, souls and minds of many. Thank you Keke for being an inspiration to me and to many women just like you and me.

  • Chandra October 30, 2012 at 3:39 pm

The fact that KeKe is such a SINGER makes me take issue with this article. I mean this woman can SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG. So make that correction please?!

  • WriterSanti October 30, 2012 at 2:11 pm

    He is such a cutie

  • Writer October 30, 2012 at 1:19 pm

Awww, look at the babys eyes. And if anyone bothered to pay attention to the show, then you would know that she does not treat her husband like a child. You would know that she has issues as well as many others in this world and that she has severe insecurity issues when it come to the men in her life as well as the fear of getting into another unhealthy relationship and she feels like he is going to cheat if he is not with her every single place that she goes, and if you also paid attention, you would know that she is getting help with that.
Oh and BCK, she is definitely not a rapper.

    • Trisha (the original one) October 30, 2012 at 5:36 pm

But that still doesn’t take away from the fact that she treats him like a child! I understand she’s scared b/c of past relationships, but she’s gonna end up messing up something good w/ her behavior. The other women on the show offered to introduce their husbands to her husband, so he could have some friends of the male gender who are married so they won’t cheat (hopefully not). Even then, she was like no. Why marry a man & have kids w/ him if you don’t trust him? She should have been taking therapy sessions to heal her wounds. But i hope the help she’s getting is working & it will improve their relationship

      • Writer October 30, 2012 at 8:59 pm

Exactly, everyone is looking at what she was doing then, but not bothered to pay attention to what she is doing now, which is getting help. She should have worked on herslef first, but she didnt, thats in the past and she cant go back. now this is the present and she is working on herself now. And yes that is a way to lose your spouese, but her husband has obviously knew this about her before he married her and he decided to be a man and stick by her side through the good and the bad. Dont get me wrong though, Im not defending her behavior at all. I was one of the people watching and saying she is a little psycho, and she does have her issues, but who doesnt, and when people take the time out to listen, then thats when people are able to get more of perspective on things.

    • Oxford October 30, 2012 at 6:40 pm

I am technically a “child”, so trust me when I say I can tell when someone is being treated like a “child”.

In the episode I saw they were in a recording studio and I think her brother was there and even her brother was giving her the “side eye” over how she was treating her husband. Then a female employee came in and gave him a note or something and she lost her mind.

My family puts out a monthly online newsletter that goes out to family and friends and life skills and relationship advice is given out to us based on questions posed the previous month. In February 2012 my uncle who is double boarded in Psychiatry & Neurosurgery wrote in response to a question about insecurity in relationships.

My uncle told my cousin to “run from this girl as if the KKK was chasing him”. He said that (I’m paraphrasing) there is no cure available for “insecurity”. And there is nothing that can be said or done to help or appease an insecure person. If you get off of work at 5 and get home at 5:30 and it takes 25 minutes to get home, an insecure person will believe that in the unaccounted for 5 minutes that you were up to something nefarious.

An insecure man has a good chance of turning into an abuser, and an insecure woman does things like getting pregnant to hold on to the man (men do it too, they mess with birth control pills and condoms).

What Ms. Wyatt is not understanding and what her therapist needs to tell her is that her behavior towards her husband can be construed as ABUSE. She may not be hitting him but she is still abusing him.

      • GNOSTIC October 30, 2012 at 11:41 pm

@Oxford for the most [art I agree with you. If a man was acting as controlling to a woam the way that Keke is controlling with her husband we would say he was abusive, at least verbally or emotionally. I jst have 1 question, why does your uncle feel so stronly that insecurity is not curable? I thought psyciatrists worked with patients for years to cure them of their issues, not giving up and saying no cure.

  • Oxford October 30, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Sorry, my mum just gave me the definition of “cuckolded” and it is gross. I meant to say “henpecked”. Again, my apologies.

    • GNOSTIC October 30, 2012 at 1:00 pm

No need to apologise, she does treat the husband like a p*nk. At least thats how they come off on tv. The show is called R&B Divas. Didnt know she had 6 kids, thats a lot of kids.

  • Oxford October 30, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Is this the lady that treats her husband like a child (on the show that has Faith Evans in it)? She makes him go EVERYWHERE with her and accuses him being interested in other women if they just speak to him.

She has had issues in the past but I don’t see how treating the current husband like one of the children going to insure that her household stay abuse free. A cuckolded husband like the one she has just acts out in other ways, like spending money or hiding other aspects of his personal life.

Plus other men treat men like the husband awful. I didn’t really sit down and watch the show the last time I was in the US but it caught my attention because my dad, uncles and brothers were laughing at the husband. Even my mum couldn’t believe that a grown man was allowing himself to be treated that way.

Oh well, I’m sure she is up to the task of training husband #3 when she gets him. Good luck to her. BTW her baby is BEAUTIFUL, he looks like he could be one of ours.

  • theyknow October 30, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I was confused by the rapper comment also..LOL!! Wyatt is such a cutie! I’m glad that she has found a good man for her family!

  • Neonlove October 30, 2012 at 11:11 am

Keke is not a rapper. She is a singer…let me rephrase a SANGER.

  • jade October 30, 2012 at 11:00 am

i love how she named her last child Wyatt.

  • Sherley October 30, 2012 at 10:45 am

Baby boy looks just like mom. Good for her in making new & better choices.

  • Confused October 30, 2012 at 10:37 am
