TAYE DIGGS: ‘I’M CONSTANTLY THINKING ABOUT MY SON’

Taye Diggs is well aware of race and culture, and wants his son to be educated on the subjects as well. His recent venture of writing ‘Chocolate Me’ places the concept of race in children’s form so that little Walker,3, can understand it. “The book is based on a poem that I wrote while I was in college, based on a period of my life when I was around five years old. The first time I read that book to my son was one of the more moving activities that we have done together,” said Diggs during an interview with Theater Mania.

The actor also commented on fatherhood saying, “One thing that I’m realizing is that I am nowhere near the father I thought I would be. I also had no idea what kind of a human being Walker was going to be. It was easy prior to him being born to say, ‘Oh, I’m gonna discipline him like this or I’m gonna feed him like this.’ So I’m learning from my experiences and we’re just gonna try and be in the moment and let time and his experiences kind of dictate how we handle that.”

Taye went on to discuss vulnerability in parenthood. “I’m constantly thinking about my son,” explained the celeb. “What I most feel is the vulnerability. I’ve never prayed more than I do since he entered my life. You would think that being a father would hit a strength in you — coming to the realization that you brought someone into the earth. Instead, I’ve never felt more weak and vulnerable, just because of how much I love this person.”

Walker is Taye and wife Idina Diggs’ first child together.

So what’s going to happen if his son grows up and decides to be with an black woman???? Maybe my opinion don’t matter but I hope that
Mr. diggs operates with a excepting heart, if lil walker chooses to be with someone of the black race …. And keep all of his negative comments about black women to a halt….and let his son grow and make his own decisions about who he wants to date….at least for walker’s sake …if Taye chooses to be ignorant and stick with beliefs more power to him …I just hope he does not install that negative crap in poor lil walkers head….because if he does then Mr Diggs needs to prayed on….and @ disappointed I agree with u 100….

He obviously has some internalized racism based on the things he had to endure in his life, but it seems like with this book + being a dad, he’s realizing that he needs to grow up and deal with those issues before passing them on to his son. I like his wife more than him, but he’s an okay actor/broadway singer.

I’m happy that Taye is happy (and vulnerable)

He seems to really love being a father which is the least one could hope for

I seriously believe this man is having some problems with his race….every time he opens his mouth race issues are his choice of words , and I’m so over him and what he does or how he chooses to raise his son. Get over yourself Mr. Diggs and do it asap.

BCK, unless a picture of Walker is being shown, you can keep Taye’s thoughts, emotions & statements. No one actually cares about him.

Sherley, we’ve BEEN discussing this man’a annoying comments and opinion of the African American race. Just like the Jada situation people just need to STOP bring the subject up, period. Lord help us if Jada writes a book about her parenting style o_O

I cannot stand this man after the comments that he made about Black women!
He is no exception to racism… we all have probably faced it at some point in our lives, but you don’t see the rest of us angry at the world and intentionally only dating outside of our race having mixed race children because they hate being black and everything that it means. Self-hatred is a form of racism in itsself…

I am so disgusted with Taye Diggs… I think that since he is ashamed of us as a people, we should be ashamed of him as a person and Boycott his book! I’m just saying.
