MARVIN SAPP SAYS BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF BEING A WIDOWER IS RAISING THREE KIDS
Marvin Sapp snaps a formal pic with his kids Madisson, Marvin Jr., and Mikaila. The singer and songwriter has quite the busy schedule caring for his children as a single dad and serving as senior pastor of Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Mr. Sapp recently spoke with Cincinnati.com about the joys and challenges associated with fatherhood. “Just trying to manage time [is the biggest challenge],” said the singer. “[I'm] Still keeping a very hectic travel schedule but still remaining connected to home via Skype and Facebook and making sure they get their homework done. Still being a dad and trying to be the maternal side as well as being the disciplinarian. It’s a challenge, but I don’t believe that God puts more on you than you can handle. I know I’m equipped for this because if I wasn’t I wouldn’t be here. They’re teenagers, and being teenagers they go through a lot of different emotional aspects, especially now.”
Marvin’s son recently began his freshman year in college at Morehouse, and his daughter Mikaila wrote a book during her mother’s battle with cancer. MaLinda Sapp passed away in 2010 after several months of enduring colon cancer. She and Marvin Sr. were married for 15 years.
