THE OBAMAS HEAD HOME: WHAT WILL THE NEXT FOUR YEARS BE LIKE FOR MALIA AND SASHA?
The Obamas head back to the White House for four more years of leadership. Malia,14, looks fabulous in her brown leather jacket and blue jeans. Sasha,11, also looks nice in her winter jacket and pink sneakers.
Many have wondered what the next four years will be like for the President and First Lady’s daughters who will explore teenage life in the White House. “You know, I did worry what this life would be like for them,” said Michelle. “Could I keep them normal? Could we instill in them the values that we learned growing up, humility, and decency, and treating people with respect?”
Although initially worried, Michelle has come to appreciate the girls’ development. “They have a regular life, they’ve got friends and sleepovers and you know, to them it’s home. I look at them in the same way, and think, wow, you guys have grown up, and you are so poised and you’re so sweet, and so there’s that motherly side of me. But it’s still always a balance between protecting them,” says the First Lady.
The President also worries about Sasha and Malia’s development, but remedies it with serious protection. “I have men with guns that surround them — often,” says Obama. The Chief of Staff further gushes, “[Sasha and Malia are] smart, they’re funny. But most importantly, they’re kind, they’re respectful, they’re responsible, they’re well behaved. I could not ask for better kids.”
