After walking countless red carpets and receiving rave reviews from critics, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” star Quvenzhane Wallis” has not let success go to her head.

“I’m just normal. I’m just this girl who always fights with her brothers, like normal, always tackles the big dog that’s always in the house, like normal,” Quvenzhane said during an interview.

The young actress stole the hearts of audiences and critics everywhere with her Beasts’ performance as Hushpuppy. Quvenzhane has since gained recognition and awards including breakthrough performance at the 16th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala. Quvenzhane’s role has also helped the independent film receive buzz for upcoming Oscar nods, but this hasn’t gone to the 9-year old’s head. In fact, she didn’t even know about the Oscars. ”I actually had to learn what an Oscar was,” Quvenzhane said. “I call him `the golden man.’”

Although Quvenzhane likes acting and wants to continue , she does have other aspirations. She would like to be dentist, ”to see people smile,” but isn’t planning on leaving showbiz anytime soon.
