COMMON AND DAUGHTER ARE TWO OF A KIND

Common and daughter Omoye Assata Lynn,15, are in sync with one another. Both father and daughter show their tongues to the camera as the lens captures a beautiful moment between parent and child.

Common will take on the role of parent for a day in his new film Luv, set for release this year. In the film, Common portrays an ex-convict uncle (Vincent) who takes his idolizing nephew (Woody) around for a day to show him the ropes of the street. As the two spend the day together, Woody comes to realize that Vincent is all that he has as a father figure. As Common explains, “[The movie is] really about the cycle that happens, usually in the inner city, when people don’t have good fathers.”

Luv will be released for viewing to a limited audience on January 18, 2013. The general public will have to wait until a later date to see Common in action onscreen.

Omoye aspires to be a lawyer like First Lady Michelle and President Barack Obama.

What does Assata mean? That’s Amar’e Stoudemire’s daughter’s name, interesting!

Hmmmm kinda nice, but the first three letters are hard to avoid.

      Nice name.

It seems powerful, so I kinda like it. It’s definitely better as a middle name than as a first name like Assata Stoudemire. It’s harsh ’cause of the beginning. Kids in school may will not let her live that down :/

Lol. I didn’t even see that at first. I can imagine the teasing that occurs.
