After being cast as the leading lady in the remake of the musical classic  Annie, 12-year old Willow Smith is no longer attached to the film. During the time that the development of the project began, Willow was only 9-years old. Now almost a teenager, Willow has simply “outgrown” the role as the “Little Orphan Annie.”

So now that the film has settled on a director, a new lead person will have to be cast for the role. Sony is shooting to have the film in theaters by 2014.

Stay tuned for news on who will be cast as the new Annie.

  1. Honestly I think the film will be better without her. The Karate Kid was horrible!! Smiths are talented but they aren’t the only talented kids.

  2. She needs to face that her career is over. Whip my hair is 3 years old and her album never even came out. shes a one hit wonder

    • I don’t think her career is over. I think she just growing up and we all need time to do that. Pushing her into the spotlight doesn’t make puberty easier. She has talent, she just need experience to help it blossom.

  3. Im glad they decided against doing it…The Smith mess up ‘Karate Kid” afterall. both Saki Jackson and Quezanhe will be too big for the part by 2014 too. Just leave the original alone..no remakes, PLEASE.

  4. Awwhhh…I would have loved to see Willow in the remake. She has gotten really tall over the years, and kids do grow fast. Best wishes to the child that gets the starring role. My picks for the role would be: Quevenzhane Wallis or Skai Jackson from “Jessie”.

  5. I’m glad that she is no longer in the film. The Smith family need help and keeping the kids out of the spotlight is a good move. Besides, I dont think the film need to be re-made anyways. Leave the classics alone.
