LAILA ALI JOINS FORCES WITH KIDS’ HEALTHY MOUTHS CAMPAIGN
Laila Ali watches closely as kids Curtis Jr.,4, and Sydney,2, brush their teeth. The former boxer smiles as her kids take two minutes before bedtime to brush thoroughly. Ali recently partnered with the Ad Council’s Healthy Mouth Campaign to promote oral hygiene that encourages kids to brush for at least two minutes in the morning and at night.
“As a mother, I know what it’s like to try to wrangle your kids into brushing their teeth. But through my involvement with the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign, I have also been reminded how important it is,” said campaign spokesperson, Laila Ali. “I am looking forward to spreading the message that brushing for 2 minutes twice a day is essential for good oral health and that it can actually be fun and easy with the videos and tools available online.”
Over 16 million kids in the United States suffer from poor dental hygiene, making them candidates for heart disease and other illnesses as adults if unhealthy practices continue. Laila and the Ad Council aim to close the door to serious health problems in the future and current tooth decay through a series of public service announcements that inform parents of the importance of good oral hygiene. Laila and Ad Council also aim to encourage moms and dads to take their children to the dentist more often.
Curtis Jr. and Sydney are Laila and husband Curtis Conway Sr.’s only children together. The couple parent five kids in all.
