All parents want the best for their children, especially when it comes to their education. For many, choosing the right school starts very early. There are many new and unique types of schools popping up across the country. Many places have charter schools and other specialized high schools as alternatives to traditional schools. Different educational programs are even starting as early as preschool.
Waldorf schools are different from other schools. Waldorf schools focus on creativity and helping students become independent thinkers. The homelike setting of the schools helps to provide a comfortable setting for kids to learn and explore.
Kathy Neely, the founding teacher of the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara said this about the school:
A typical day in preschool begins with an activity at the table, such as kneading dough and grinding grain for the morning snack. This is followed by free play in the classroom. There is a play kitchen, wood building materials, colored silks, and woolen puppets for storytelling, capes and crowns, and a loft and a cave underneath. Children are encouraged to move chairs and balance beams to create obstacle courses.
