The upcoming film ” The inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” is already receiving an approving nod as being a film worthy of an Oscar. Teen actor Skylan Brooks,14, shines in his moving performance as Mister, a young boy left to fend for himself and his younger friend, Pete, after his drug addicted mother is taken by the police.
“I play Mister. I’m an aspiring actor, I want to become an actor and leave the projects and become something of myself,” Skylan said in a recent interview. He added, “Working with Jennifer, it was amazing. She was really in her character, so we didn’t really have a chance to talk a lot on on one.”
“These kids were great because they were real serious about their craft. I’m really proud of their performances, they killed it in the movie and you believe them one hundred percent all the way through,” film Director George Tillman said about Skylan and his younger costar Ethan Dizon,11.
The film also stars some of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters such as Jeffrey Wright, Anthony Mackie, Jordin Sparks, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Jennifer Hudson.
“The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete” will be in select theaters Oct. 11. For a full listing of theaters, click here.
