NIA LONG ON MOTHERHOOD: ‘I JUST DO WHAT IS NECESSARY IN THE MOMENT’

long

While most moms are trying to find a balance between work and home, Nia Long is going with the flow. The actress tells Hello Beautiful that her life as parent and entertainer is not as balanced as it may seem.

“I’m so not balanced,” says the star. “I just do what is necessary in the moment. If it’s the kids the need attention. I take care of that…My brain is like split in half. Half is for myself and half is for the kids. And I think that is a mother’s journey to make sure that they come first but to never loose yourself in the process.”

The actress goes on to discuss the difficulties of transforming roles explaining to Hello, “When I go from being mom in my Uggs and my jeans and my t-shirt, and I have to come walk in these heels, I’m like, ‘Can somebody carry me because I forgot how to walking heels?’ And I think every mom feels that way. It is two totally different selves that have to operate in that world.”

Nia Long is the proud mom of two sons, Massai and Kez. Her latest movie, The Best Man Holiday, is in theaters now.
