Andrew Walker spends his days like many teenage boys, playing sports but for this young man, he’s not hitting the field or the court. Andrew spends his time on the green.
The teen golfer became the fifth-youngest golfer to play in the US Amateur after he shot a 76 (6 over par) at Charles River Country Club. He is the youngest African-American to debut in the event and he won an extraordinary three straight Amateur titles.
Andrew, of course, will be compared to Tiger Woods but he says his straw hat was not inspired by the golf pro.
“It’s not because of Tiger, my dad used to wear hats like that,” Walker said. “I’ve been wearing one since I was 8,” he said.
Although Andrew is an exceptional golfer, he has many other skills and talents. He plays the violin and does karate. Andrew also has a 4.0 GPA at his math and science magnet school.
